4.0 out of 5 stars fun games, great value for the set January 30, 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Armageddon is my favorite since it has a huge list of characters. Also, it has a fun part called 'Motor Kombat' which is basically like Mario Kart, and another part where you can go out and play on your own (I don't remember what that part is called) so it's like getting several games in one. I haven't played Deception very much and I haven't played Shaolin Monks at all, I mostly bought the set for Armageddon since it was a good deal. What I have played, I've really liked. I recommend it to anyone. I actually bought the games for my boyfriend but I've ended up playing them a lot, too, so I think they're good for almost anyone.

For my mother in law. She loves fighting games and is normally a Tekken player. This was her introduction to the world of Mortal Combat. She has successfully been converted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun games January 1, 2010
A Kid's Review
Format:Video Game
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
First off: This pack sells for between $10-$15 at Target & they have lots of copies by where we live so try getting it there first.

MK Deception: This is kind of like a role playing game. You walk around on a map & interact with people & collect coins (different material type coins) trying to complete the story mode which is a good but 'often used' story type. In addition to the story mode, there are a lot of side quests you do for people which is mainly just finding stuff or people they've lost. You can attack people in the map mode but you can't defend yourself which is frustrating. I find it very easy to get lost in this map mode b/c all the cities look the same and the people are very familiar looking so once you find stuff for the side quests, it will take a lot of time finding who asked for the stuff/job. The training mode is pretty cool. The characters you fight give somewhat a dialog then it puts you in the "MK Arcade style" fighting mode to fight & defeat them to get to the next part of your story. Along the way you also meet random MK characters that challenge you, however, most of the time they give you a handicap (your life drains away while fighting while theirs doesn't, or they have the ability to heal in a quick pace while fighting while you don't, you can only drain their energy doing a certain attack type (i.e. throws), etc.) which sometimes is very difficult. Also, your map character is just a rookie kid but when you fight people on your Konquest, you end up taking the identity of the most recent MK character that trained you (I don't know if you can choose who you fight with yet). This game is fun at first but gets old & frustrating quick so be ready to jump to the next game pretty quick. Rating: 3 out of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars still a lethal fatality January 21, 2014
By rwish34
Format:Video Game|Verified Purchase
well not that im catching up on a game thats about 7-8 yrs old but its a true classic . The entire set is the ame yet different and gives a ridiculous amount of play ,replay and replay some more. Deception a preview primer for armageddon, plus cool mini games chess mk rocks. shaolin is basically role playing but ease of use great learning curve co-op is great good storyline and story line armageddon is loaded. From its in depth storyline to entire roster of kombat warriors to its cool 7-8 minutes animated start, fatalities, and everything in between still holds up and all for a great price and still NEW??!! Yes outdated maybe but what some may consider older graphics gameplay style that era and pure mk fun still holds up on any platform esp ps2 .really peaked what the ps2 was capable of and why its still in demand today so yeah im enjoying it and if your new or reliving old mk battles from the past you won't be disapppointed. Did purchase both books in great condition from amazon to assist (its been a while)with moves codes storylines you could play without the books but with it more depth of game to be enjoyed..thats it final fatality seeya have fun!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Flipping Awesome. June 25, 2014
Format:Video Game|Verified Purchase
I was dying to get Armageddon and deception but they were pretty expensive separately. I wasn't too jazzed with Shoalin Monks. My favorite out of the three is deception just for the kick ass story mode. I love Shujinko and loved how i got to train with a bunch of characters along with an array of little mini challenges. Armageddon is cool because you get to design your own character complete with bio and fighting style. This collection came on time and was in pretty good condition. There was mild denting to the cover of the collection but that could have easily been the mail carriers fault and it had no factor in the game quality of any of the games. It was indeed brand new and the discs looked perfect. Each game played as expected and I am very pleased.
