Addictive - Awesome - Wild, June 21, 2003
Well, what can I say? Obviously whoever is reading this must be somewhat Interested in the CD. I saw MK on TV one time, I loved it, and I watched it lots of time. I was younger then, and the music wasn't something to me. But then one day, (about a year ago) I was going through my Videos. And found Mortal Kombat. So I watched a bit of it. And I became yet again Obsessed. The music was now very thrilling to me. And I went out and bought the soundtrack, I actually bought mine from Borders in Australia, it was ordered from the US and took 14 weeks! Anyway, you wanna know about this soundtrack? I'll tell you about it. I love it, not all tracks are perfect, but different people like different music. They are all satisfactory. Here's some Info on the CD: Track one: Name: A taste of things to come Band: (Composer) Geaorge.S.Clinton Time: 0:48 Scene from Film: When Shang Tsung says, "And now for a taste of things to come", and all those red masked men chuck the banquet tables around and then out comes Sub Zero to freeze another guy. My View: I really like this track, It's very short, 0:48 seconds, but It still is great. It is a fast drumming exercise that really catches you as It builds and the gong bangs at the end. It's cut short a bit, as it goes for longer in the film, but It cuts at an appropriate point. My rating: 10/10 Track two: Name: Goodbye (Demo) Band: Gravity Kills Time: 3:10 Scene from film: End Credits My view: It's a good song, that goes along slowly and keeps you interested. It cuts off at a highly inapproprite time at the end. I didn't expect it to, but it just cuts off! My rating: 6/10 Track three: Name: Juke Joint Jezebel (Metrpolis Mix) Band: KMFDM Time: 5:17 Scene from film: Kano VS Sonya Blade My View: This is one awesome track. The action starts here. It is catchy in everyway. It has an awesome musical Intro, first it hits you with the Guitars, then the Synth, then the Vocals. The Vocals are mixed. It's so coool! It sound dark and evil at first (by the way the singers sing it) but then you start to realize by the chorus, if they wanted it to be that way, they wouldn't have Included the awesome female vocals. I became obsessed with this song. I got this CD, in feb, and I still listen to this track once a day. It rocks. Listen to the sample above. This track Alone is worth buying the CD. My rating: 10/10 Track four: (It is written everywhere even on the CD thatthis is PsykoSonik, It's not, It's the traci Lords (Juno Reacor) there was a mistake - track 5 and 4 should round the other way). Name: Control Band: Traci Lords (Juno Reactor) Time: 6:28 (according to the CD brochure, but strangely it doesn't go for more than five mins) Scene from film: IT WASN'T IN THE FILM! My View: Well, If you've heard of Juno Reactor, I need to say nothing, but this track, for those who don't know, is Instrumental, and is very "Disco - Like". My rating: 7/10 Track five: Name: Unlearn Band: PsykoSonik Time: 7:29 Scene from film: Reptile VS Liu Kang My view: This is very techno. It pumps it hard and fast. It is very exciting and non stop action music. My rating: 9/10 Track six: Name: Halcyon + on + on Band: Orbital Time: 9:28 Scene from film: End, straight after Liu kills Shang Tsung and all his souls burst out, It flows until Shao Kahn pops out of that temple. My view: A good, classic Electronica track. It is quiet and ambient and displays female vocals but no lyrics. Just humming and melodies. It's a very good track. My rating: 10/10 Track seven: Name: Take on the theme from Mk Band: Utah Saints Time: 3:00 Scene from Film: End Credits My View: This was written for the film, and is a mix of Techno Syndrome, it is the MK tune, but just mixed differently. It's very enjoyable. My rating: 6/10 Track Eight: Name: The Invisible Band: G//Z/R Time: 4:30 Scene from Film: WASN'T IN FILM! My View: I hardly listen to this one. It is good, but dark. The lyrics don't turn me on. It's a catchy song, with style, but It has no relation to the film at all. My rating: 5/10 Track Nine: Name: Zero Signal Band: Fear Factory Time: 5:58 Scene from Film: Johnny Cage VS Scorpion My View: You like your screaming / metal music? You got it here. This song is great. It rocks fast, and has roaring lyrics that shout and scream. It's a good one. Very beaty, rough and loud. My rating: 10/10 Track ten: Name: Burn Band: Sister Machine Gun Time: 4:40 Scene from Film: WASN'T IN FILM! My View: Very Homie style. Beaty, slow paced. A song you can relax to while still getting your beat addiction satisfied! Very good song. It's groovy man. My rating: 10/10 Track eleven: Name: Blood and Fire (Out of the ashes mix) Band: Type 0 Negative Time: 4:35 Scene from film: ANOTHER ONE THAT WASN'T IN THE FILM! my view: Elvis Presley vocals! Guitars are cool. It's a very good song that offers almost an "eighties" feel to it. I love it. My rating: 10/10 Track twelve: Name: I reject Band: Bile Time: 2:57 Scene from film: WASN'T IN FILM! My view: This song is very slow paced, but almost metal. It has croak - like vocals. Very wierd. Especially the toilet flush at the end. My rating: 4/10 Track thirteen: Name: Twist the Knife (slowly) Band: Napalm death Time: 2:53 Scene from Film; Where Goro beats Human after Human after HUman. My view: You like roaring? Lyrics you can't hear or understand? Well here you go. A short, furious song. Very catchy but not the type of song you'd listen to over and over. My rating: 5/10 Track fourteen: Name: What U see/We all bleed red Band: Mutha's day out Time: 4:09 Scene from Film: The techno club at the start of film, where sonya and Jax are searchin for Kano. My View: Awesome. Metal. too good. too fast. a bit of screaming. Fast lyrics. Amazing song, too good! My rating: 10/10 Track fifteen: Name: Techno Syndrome Band: The Immortals Time: 3:22 Scene from film: Shang VS Liu and End credits my view: The MK themesong. Very techno. vERY BEATY, EXCELLENT TUNE. i like! You like too. My rating: 10/10 Track sixteen: Name: Goro VS Art Band: (Composer) George.S.Clinton Time: 3:00 Scene from film: GORO VS ART my view: a very excelent guitar job. speedy, fast, techno/rock. It's good. My rating: 8/10 Track seventeen: Name: Demon Warriors/Final Kombat Band: (Composer) George.S.Clinton Time: 3 mins something. Scene from Film: Starts when Liu takes on the demon warriors, then Shang Tsung. My view: fast paced. Very good. Classic build up sequence. I think It's good for an occasional listen. My rating: 6/10 That's my review of the MK soundtrack. In total of all I've done, I'd give it: 136/170 It's a great soundtrack. Just get out there and buy it. I'm listening to it right now!
