4.0 out of 5 stars good anarcho cd
great collection of the icons of filth early work. this was the best of the bands work while they were still in their high point. Icons of Filth have a little slower sound than the anarcho bands of their time but the raw power is still thier, great cd

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD MUSIC, BAD SOUND
This release compiles the 17 tracker first IOFilth lp ¨Onward Christian Soldiers ¨with a slew of 7¨s and a cassette. Lyrics are great anarcho-pacifist but the music is very basic and failed to give me the rush I usually look for on this kind of record. The non-lp songs are way better than the lp ones and have better sound, esp the guitarwork. I bought this coz I'd liked...

4.0 out of 5 stars almost perfect, February 6, 2001

Icons were great and it's about time a CD was made of their work. This is anarcho-punk similar to Conflict, Liberty, etc. A must for any anarchist. My only complaint is that the entire "Not On Her Majesty's Service" cassette is not here. Most of the tracks re-recorded for the "Onward Christian Soldiers" LP sounded better on the original cassette. Oh well, still awesome, especially since my 15 year old cassettes have been played to death! cheers...

These wacky folks from the U.K. put together some seriously awesome anarco-punk goods! No exception with this release! Thankfully, the CD has been released, thus sparing my actual vinyl from further abuse! GET IT!!!!

I bought this coz I'd liked the 'Nostradamnedus ¨cd so much but it turned out to be just OK punk rock with awful sound. What annoyed me the most is that except for the On Her Majesty's Service ¨ ( a few songs ) there is a strong treble imbalance that deafens your right ear, which my eq failed to correct. Maybe that's been sorted on the remaster ? But that one has only the lp tracks. This one clocks in at a healthy 60+ so there's plenty to choose from. Buy at your own risk. Stig RIP :-( .

5.0 out of 5 stars best anarcho-punk of the 80s, December 16, 2005

this is hands down one of my favorite albums. icons of filth are timeless. i, too, am devestated by the death of stig. i saw them play CBGB's in 2003. Left my ears ringing for days but a real treat.

Icons of filth sits right alongside Conflict & Subhumans as best gosh darn political punk from the UK

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Punk Bands ever., November 4, 2005

I got both this and their last album Nostradamnedus and their pretty good. It's too bad that they are no longer playing live or recording (due to death of Stig Smeg) because they sound like the kind of band that would have been worth seeing live.
