I bought this CD after hearing that Alvestam was singing on it. It is a good CD overall. Definitely for fans of melodic death. The guitars are tuned way down, but I wish they used a little less emphasis on the leads. They almost "pop out", which really isn't a "bad" thing, but the rhythm guitar is ridiculous and that is something not many melodic death bands have. Most soar all over with the lead, whereas Universum almost have a Disarmonia Mundi feel to their leads, with awesome, well-thought-out rhythms that deserve just as much recognition. Also, if you are a fan of guitar virtuosos, check out Paul Wardingham. He has a special guest solo appearance. I will let you all figure out the track, just buy the album.

For fans of Scar Symmetry, Disarmonia Mundi, Nightrage, Soilwork and others...

I'm a big fan of melodic-death metal, and I was not dissapointed. This cd reminds me very much of Symmetric in Design, the first cd by the melodic-death metal band Scar Symmetry. This is in part due to the appearance of their ex-lead singer, Christian Alverstram, on three of the tracks. If nothing else, check out those songs, but there are other good ones on this cd as well.
