I bought my nieces (ages 5 & 8) these 3-D Dover coloring books for a little treat when I went to visit them. They enjoyed them so much, and were really amazed when their pictures "popped out" from the page. I recommend coloring these pictures with marker or very high-quality crayons (Crayolas) because colored pencils and cheap crayons didn't give nearly the 3-D effect of the aforementioned media. I also recommend that an adult put the glasses together and reinforce them with cellophane tape or packing tape; it's easy to tear them when you're punching them out from the cardboard, and they come apart a lot if you don't tape the joints. But even messy colorers (littler kids) will be able to get the 3-D effect as long as their coloring is dark and bright enough on the page. Staying in the lines isn't necessary.

Format: Paperback
I just received this book and have to say that the designs look like a lot of fun. However, I have to warn you if you purchase this book, it contains the same pages as the other Dover coloring book. Magnificent Mosaics Coloring Book (Dover Coloring Books). This book cost a little more for the 3-D glasses and the directions of how to make the images "pop". For me it was worth it, simply because I don't know how to arrange colors so that they "pop". I have another coloring book of optical illusions and have no idea of how to make the images appear 3-D, so the directions in this book will help me choose colors for the other book.
I was able to use the 3-D glasses to view some other pictures (mandalas) that I had colored previously, and I am learning how to make the colors pop. I could definitely see the difference even though they were not "3-D" books.
This is a fun book for adults who want to keep in touch with their innner child. I think it would probably be fun for an adult and child to work on together, because there are so many different ways to fill in the designs. If you already have the 3-D glasses from another 3-D coloring book than I suggest you purchase the other version mentioned in this review which is a little cheaper. I am not dissatisfied at all because I will enjoy seeing what I can do differently in the other book.

I would definitely take advantage of the buy three, get one free promotion if it is still going on.
