Very Cool Book
Explains the uses of tessellations and manipulations of shapes and perception. The coloring pages are also very cool. They start off easier and progress to quite elaborate. Great for colorists of geometric shapes/patterns and you can learn to draw some as well. 30 text pages, 32 coloring pages - all double sided

The book introduces the basic types of tessellations and presents many examples. Note that the book title say "32 plates _to_ color" and not "32 color plates". The "look inside" feature shows already colored tessellations, but they are not in the book. It's not a problem, but don't expect to get color plates. This book is more geometric in its approach than "Principles of...

The book introduces the basic types of tessellations and presents many examples. Note that the book title say "32 plates _to_ color" and not "32 color plates". The "look inside" feature shows already colored tessellations, but they are not in the book. It's not a problem, but don't expect to get color plates. This book is more geometric in its approach than "Principles of Pattern Design" by Proctor (isbn 0-486-26349-5) and may complement it nicely.

Not being a professional designer, I was interested in this book for ways to create my own designs for quilts. This proved to be an excellent resource, for it had examples of numerous tessalations. The material was ideal for my purposes and provided techniques for my personal use.
