Best Drug Book For RN students!,
By I Like Cheese "I Like Cheese" (living in Luckytown) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mosby's 2006 Nursing Drug Reference (Paperback)
This was the first drug book I bought in RN school. My friends bought Mosby's, Saunders, & Springhouse. They are always borrowing my Mosby's because theirs either does not have the drug they need, or it does not have all the SE listed for CV, etc, or it does not have the herbal interactions listed. Mosby's has all those. It is a complete drug book. I won't buy another brand in the future. Sticking with Mosby's. The only complaint I have is that after 2+ years, the binding cracked on mine, and huge chuncks of pages are falling out of the binding. The book gets kind of abused in my book bag. So, that is why I am buying a new 2006 version today.

Mosby's 2005 Nursing Drug Reference,

This review is from: Mosby's 2006 Nursing Drug Reference (Paperback)
I work at a nursing home that uses two other Nursing Drug books. They are not organized in a manner that I can easily use. Mosby's is by far the easiest and quickest way to find a drug's information. I keep my Mosby's on my med cart at all times and use it frequently. This is the third Mosby's I have bought. Stick with a winner!

The reason I chose to purchase these drug reference books for the county jail I work for, is that the text is very easy to use. You do not have to look in the index in the back of the book if you already know the generic name of the drug. A great majority of the prescribed medications are in generic form and this text is in alphabetical order, not by drug class, which many other texts use. My correction officers as well as I are very pleased with it! It makes our jobs much easier!
Thanks!

Convenient classic,
By Old Nurse (St. Petersburg, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mosby's 2007 Nursing Drug Reference 20th Anniversary Edition (Mosby's Nursing Drug Reference) (Paperback)
I've used lots of drug guides in my 30 years of nursing, but I always return to Mosby's. Alphabetical (by generic name) listings make it easy and quick to find familiar drugs. Drug information is concise and consistently and clearly organized. Drug classification is noted directly under the name of the drug, handy for checking interactions quickly. Mosby's seems to be as up-to-date as any drug handbook I've used. The included CD has some nice features but what I'd really like is access to a web site with reliable updates on new drugs and new findings for old drugs.

I am a MA student and I bought this book to do PDR's for my classes. I am able to find all the drugs that I have to look up and it is a great book in that it's easy to read and understand when looking for the Indications, Contraindications, Dosage & Forms, etc. I recommend this book!

Replaces the huge PDR for ease of reference, ease of use, and practical information on almost all current medications. As an MD I use it two to three times a week in my office while treating patients.

I love this drug book. All the meds are listed alphabetacally by generic name. This is important to me as a nurse because generic names are less likely to be look alike or sound alike than are brand name drugs.
Plus there are sections in the front for general categories of meds such as antidepressants or antibiotics. And there's even noted herbal interactions. It's the ONLY drug book I've ever found to be helpful as a nurse and pharmacy and therapeutics committe member

The CD-ROM & website reference suck...,

I just purchased this book, and I was really excited when I received it. However, after 5 attempts of trying to install the CD-ROM, I gave up, and... the worest thing is, I tried to visit the website the book provided, in order to get to contact with them & ask for help... I was not allowed to view the page... cuz they blocked a lot of IP address, and the cable company that I have is on their list.........
If you want to get a USEFUL CD-ROM for drug reference, don't get this book... it will cause you a lot of headache & troubles. Get Nursing200X drug handbook published by Springhouse. The software is good, and I never had any problem with it. |
