This PDA companion software gives rapid access to all the drug information you need - at the convenient tap of a stylus. It contains the same great features found in the book to promote safe medication administration and prevent drug administration errors, such as Do Not Crush and Alert icons, high alert drug identification, FDA mandated "Tall Man" spellings for easily confused drug names, specially grouped administration-route considerations, highlighted lifespan considerations, hundreds of special new do-not-confuse headings, and overdose treatment. In addition to content found in the book, this PDA software also includes handy calculators - essential tools when verifying dosages prior to administration. The PDA software is navigated using the MobiPocket ReaderPro, making it virtually platform-independent. The ReaderPro is small enough that it will not slow down even older devices, and it offers many useful built-in features, including full text search, annotation and highlighting capability, bookmarks with easy link-style navigation, adjustable font size, type, text alignment, and color, multiple indexes, removable memory card support, and a customizable toolbar.

  • The Similar Drug Names Database puts over 1,700 drug name pairs at the user's fingertips for quick, efficient confirmation and patient safety.
  • Nursing Drug Dosage Calculators provide users with quick, portable confirmation of key drug calculations.
  • All High Alert drugs are clearly identified to help nurses identify drugs most likely to cause patient harm.
  • Features more than 100 Do Not Crush icons to denote drugs that may not be administered in crushed form.
  • Features Research headings to denote drugs involved in current key research studies. Features more than 1,100 complete drug monographs, plus: drug categories; syringe and IV compatibility guides; multiple, extensive indexes by drug name, diseases, and more; vaccines and toxoids; antitoxins and antivenins; more than 900 combination products; high-alert drugs; FDA pregnancy categories; and a controlled substances chart.
  • Organizes more than 1,300 generic drugs (encompassing more than 4,500 trade names) in a comprehensive index for quick access.
  • Provides extensive nursing considerations in a concise, practice-oriented framework: Assess, Administer, Perform/Provide, Evaluate, and Teach Patient/Family.
  • Offers lifespan content via coverage of geriatric, pediatric, and pregnancy considerations throughout.
  • Highlights common and life-threatening side effects in different typefaces for easy identification, with side effects grouped by body system.
  • Highlights critical nursing considerations with a special Nursing Alert icon to identify considerations that require special attention.
  • Includes Do Not Confuse headings to identify over 1,700 reported pairs of easily confused drug names, each integrated into drug monographs for ease of access.
  • Features over 4,700 potential interactions between drugs and herbal products, denoted by an eye-catching icon.
  • Features boldface route subheadings (IM, PO, etc.) under the Dosage and Routes and the Administer monograph subheadings to help the user find information quickly.
  • Groups IV drug information under the monograph subheading Administer, with a boldface IV heading ensuring that all of the IV drug administration content is grouped together in one easy-to-find place.
  • Includes all drug compatibility information under the Administer monograph subheading to make this crucial information easy to locate.
  • Includes the names and uses of approximately 75 of the most commonly used herbal products.
  • Lists over 1,700 pairs of look-alike/sound-alike drug names have been integrated into a quick-reference appendix.

  • Contains approximately 20 new drugs recently approved by the FDA to provide the very latest drug information.
  • Presents more than 2,000 new drug facts, including patient/family teaching guidelines as well as updated drug interactions, side effects, precautions, contraindications, and IV therapy facts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Drug Book For RN students!, November 13, 2005
This was the first drug book I bought in RN school. My friends bought Mosby's, Saunders, & Springhouse. They are always borrowing my Mosby's because theirs either does not have the drug they need, or it does not have all the SE listed for CV, etc, or it does not have the herbal interactions listed. Mosby's has all those. It is a complete drug book. I won't buy another brand in the future. Sticking with Mosby's. The only complaint I have is that after 2+ years, the binding cracked on mine, and huge chuncks of pages are falling out of the binding. The book gets kind of abused in my book bag. So, that is why I am buying a new 2006 version today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mosby's 2005 Nursing Drug Reference, September 10, 2005

(REAL NAME)
I work at a nursing home that uses two other Nursing Drug books. They are not organized in a manner that I can easily use. Mosby's is by far the easiest and quickest way to find a drug's information. I keep my Mosby's on my med cart at all times and use it frequently. This is the third Mosby's I have bought. Stick with a winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, March 25, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The reason I chose to purchase these drug reference books for the county jail I work for, is that the text is very easy to use. You do not have to look in the index in the back of the book if you already know the generic name of the drug. A great majority of the prescribed medications are in generic form and this text is in alphabetical order, not by drug class, which many other texts use. My correction officers as well as I are very pleased with it! It makes our jobs much easier!
Thanks!
