I got Mosby's first as it is larger font and easier reading--it is my first "go to" dictionary as it usually has the words, ESPECIALLY when it's 2 words vs. 1. HOWEVER, it doesn't have everything, then I need to turn to Dorlands (or if I need a more full explanation). What I don't like about Dorlands is you look up a word, and it refers you to another word, and/or it doesn't have 2 word phrases like Mosby's. Between the 2 of them however, I've been able to find everything I need, but don't think there is any one dictionary that would do it. I do like the Tabors, but didn't like the small form factor..too thick and hard to keep pages open. If you travel a lot and need to take something with you that would be great, but for home use, a larger book that stays open is better for me. I like Mosby's the best if/when it has the words but don't think any one dictionary has it all....

I love this dictionary..When i started nursing school, people told me that I probably would not need it because everything is online now. However, I still got this dictionary and it has not let me down. I use it very often for Pharmacology and Pathophysiology..alot of medical terminology that may not have accurate meanings online can be found with authentic definitions in this dictionary. There are 100s and 100s of pictures..I would recommend ONLY this medical dictionary to anyone looking for one..There was only ONE time where the dictionary did not have a word I was looking for, but other than it was good.

This is by far the best Medical Dictionary I have ever seen!

Unlike many medical books that are written for doctors this dictionary, (like most of Mosby's publication), is written with nurses training in mind. So it is much easier for the layman to understand. Most other medical dictionaries I've seen provide very concise definitions using very few mostly technical terms half of which the layman most also look up. Mosby's definitions are much more verbose sometimes running half a page and more using common english words when possible. My 8th edition at 2,185 pages has 51,000 definitions and also includes more than 2,450 high-quality full-color illistration and photgraphs, 12 Appendixes, and 55 Tables.

If you want to understand "doctor speak" this is the dictionary for you.

This is one of the best dictionaries I have found. It's full of information and includes color pictures of terms that need a picture to better define them. I learn every time I open this book. Definitely an excellent addition to a medical professional's or student of medicine (PA, NP, Nurse, CNA, MD, DO, etc.).

I am currently attending college and was asked to get this dictionary for a class. At my college medical campus library they have MANY medical dictionaries. I have compared this one with the others and it is better in many ways. I am very impressed with this one and highly recommend it.

This book is AMAZING, it came in GREAT condition and has everything I need being in the health field. I have no doubt that throughout nursing school and life this dictionary will come in handy. It has great definitions and good pictures. If you are in nursing BUY IT!

I thought I may be wasting my money when I bought this dictionary, but I tell you, I have found every word I looked. I love the pictures, they are awesome, and the book is excellent quality. When I am studying, I have it handy and whala! there it is!

Buy it if you need one.

I am using this book for nursing school and it is a huge help because I can't always find reliable answers on the internet. The pictures are great. I bought it based on other reviews. So far there's only been a couple things that were not in the book. I would say the book is heavy to lug into clinicals, but is great to take to class or leave at home when you are working on your care plans and preparation work.

This is a must have for anyone either in the medical field or going into the medical field. I am constantly referring to it while studying when I come across a word I don't know. Definitions are clear and easy to understand. It is awesome, and filled with pictures and diagrams. I'm really glad I bought this book.

This is an excellent medical dictionary that has been very helpful in my RN career, compared to the one I had previosly. It has more detailed definitions and pictures.
Book arrived on time and was in excellent condition, for a used book. It was like new.
