5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd year med students dream
As a 2nd year PBL (problems based learning) med student I have found this book to be excellent. It provides in depth information on many standard tests. It does a good job of integrating physiology and even explains false highs and lows.

3.0 out of 5 stars Qualified usefulness for medical transcription
I had this book recommended to me as a transcription terminology aid. It is very limited in that function. It is obviously a very good book for those who will be performing tests, but not as much so for those of us transcribing the results. It is useful for providing context to help you infer what type of test or range of results you may be listening for, but you will...

5.0 out of 5 stars STAIGHTFORWARD, COMPREHENSIVE AND VERSATILE, January 22, 2003

This review is from: Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic and Laboratory Tests (Paperback)
Be it biochemistry, microbiology, chemical pathology, parasitology or radiography, this book assembled all the clinical techniques that an investigating scientist would need. It is comprehensive and versatile. Detailed information were provided sequentially.
Each section of the book describes all the relevant clinical procedures, using straightforward illustrations. Everything about it is practical.
It is a versatile manual which every clinician and lab scientist, (including trainees), would value very much.
And, it carries a reasonable price-tag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Med School, April 23, 2008
This review is from: Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic and Laboratory Tests (Paperback)
I purchased this book after looking at a friend's copy. Its great for figuring out what test results actually mean (especially for CBCs and BMPs). It breaks down every test, what its used for, when to order it - and what it means when high or low. Great reference for anyone in the medical field.
ps -I saw 3 copies of this book in the ICU the other day...

Excellent referance for interpreting medical test results for someone with or without a medical background. Provides a brief explanation of each test and lists likely cause('s) of abnormal results. Also lists related tests that may in combination provide a more detailed picture.

5.0 out of 5 stars best for Pagana & Pagana, March 16, 2004

I own a similar reference to this one done by the same authors and is very good but not as good as this one. I have this one available to me in two work places and I'm tempted to buy this for myself. If you need a reference such as this, get this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars a satisfied customer, February 19, 2006
This review is from: Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic and Laboratory Tests (Paperback)
I'm a new nurse and as such have much to learn in my field of practice. This book will help me to grow in my understanding of the labs and tests that my patients need to diagnose and care for their health needs. I'm excited to begin using it.

4.0 out of 5 stars mostly comprehensive, March 12, 2006

This review is from: Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic and Laboratory Tests (Paperback)
Most any type of test or procedure are listed in this book but there were a few tests that I couldn't find. I am not sure if I didn't look in the right area but alphabetical is alphabetical. Overall, very good info on what the test is for and what can influence it, etc. Recommended.

It is obviously a very good book for those who will be performing tests, but not as much so for those of us transcribing the results. It is useful for providing context to help you infer what type of test or range of results you may be listening for, but you will need a book specifically for terminology once you have narrowed it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars MÉDICO DE HABLA HISPANA EVALÚA, November 26, 2003
By
This review is from: Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic and Laboratory Tests (Paperback)
