A lot of these same skills can be seen on youtube and

Saddleback.edu

has 152 FREE medical skills videos of excellent quality for FREE.

Also, (Try Hawknurse on youtube
NurseCentral on youtube) Just to name a few.
Just look up a skill and there are usually many to choose from, some better
explained than others, but I found them to be better than some videos we
had to purchase for our classes.

Also, LearnersTV.com

This is just a SAMPLE of FREE Medical teaching online.

I found these DVD's very helpful in the beginning of my nursing courses. The practical side of nursing is very scary at first, and you have very few opportunities to practice before working with real patients. Also, nursing instructors can be less than understanding if you completely forget how to do something, not to mention embarrassing yourself in front of the patient. Our college also had simulation competencies that had to be passed. The videos were very helpful with that. Another thing they came in handy for was our "labs." Whether our lab was going to be on wound care, assessment, injections, etc; there was almost always a video that would help me prepare for it. I would highly recommend these videos to any starting nursing students looking to increase their confidence and skills.

This particular set was used during clinical skills lab by the instructors. It was great to have access and be able to review at home. I am glad I purchased it, it was good to review especially prior to clinical check-offs.

This was a required part of our "book box" at my college. What a piece of overpriced ... stuff. The pricing is insane, and the skills shown aren't any big deal. save your money. FWIW, once you buy this, you can't sell it back to amazon either. what a rip.

This set of DVDs was a class requirement for my nursing program. Not sure if I will need to keep it or will resell it. I am glad amazon carrys this item since I was able to save 20% - 30% off the bookstore prices even with the shipping cost added in.

I think these are good videos that go over the basic steps needed to perform various nursing procedures. I find it helpful to review them night before my clinical.

There are over 100 videos of skills on here, plus you can print skills checklists and read about procedures. The videos are well done and help clarify a lot of things you might read in your Taylor's Skills Manual. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because you can't just watch the videos straight through. You have to navigate through different screens to access each video. I was using it to study for my CPNE and I just wanted to lie in bed and watch all of the videos over and over a few times. No such luck.

I would recommend this to students who use the Clinical Skills book and the Fundamentals of Nursing book. The recommended website in the book is a great tool but the videos do not provide the information required. The Video Skills provides a much longer version and has review questions with rationals.
