This book, much better than the Step II tome from the same series, is written in outline form by people who reportedly took and smoked the test. I believe it. I really think EVERY item in the book was on the test, and those items that are set in bold-face type, frequently represented 3,4, or even 5 questions. Some of these key points were not even to be FOUND in most other study-guides, let alone emphasized. The content is organized into bite-sized chunks, then is reviewable before the test even more rapidly. There is a CD included with lots of questions; be careful, though! The answers on the CD (at least in my edition) were not always accurate, although the answers to the (much fewer) questions in the book were. If you are at all comfortable with multipl-guess questions, and you have practiced medicine in the US anytime recently, this book, memorized, may be all you need. (If you want more, add Swanson) Re-reading this again and again will help you more than filling your head with a bunch of esoteric stuff that may help your real-world patients, but is unlikely to be found in the more typical patients about whom you will be tested in the Boards.

I am very careful about the sources that I use to prepare for exams. I can honestly say that this textbook was extremely helpful. It was filled with concise information that was not only on target - but often was repeated several times on the examination. I read the previous review that claimed that a Family Practice oriented text was better than this book in preparing him for the USMLE 3- it is hard for me to imagine. I have asked several of my classmates as well as several friends at Johns Hopkins and Baylor. We all agree that this book was exceptionally helpful- and that we would use it again in a heartbeat. The scores on our examinations reflect the fact that this book was right on target.

Honestly, I can't give MOSBY any higher praise than to say I enthusiatically recommend their text. I believe that it ensured my passsage of the exam- as well as made me a better physician.

This book ensured my passage of the exam. I am quite sure after having read this book that I not only passed the exam, I became a better doctor.

This is a comprehensive review book, and has most facts you need to pass the Step III. However, the facts are written in an as-a-matter-of-fact manner with many other things you don't need. This means you need to know what facts you are looking for to find them. I recommend it for revision after having gone through sample questions, and known what to expect.

this is a good book and very well written for the step 2 USMLE. I rank it 5 STAR for the step 2. but it is insufficent for the step three. it can be use as a source for the fast refreeshment of your memory but not for preparation to sit for the step 3.

I highly recommend this book for STEP 3 cause it gives you the keys of the exam although it is a little bit difficient in some areas such as Surgery but you can add the defficient information by reading some difficient topics. But this book makes you concentrated on the important topics of medicine such that Emergency , rabies and tetanus in which there are many questions about them in the STEP 3 but I wish there will be a new edition which contains more ethical mediine cause there are many items of Ethics of Medicine in the exam. I read many books for the exam but this book was the best. But please if you are preparing for the exam I wish you will read the difficient topics thet I mentioned in my preview.

I think this book has too much detail with the topics it includes and it misses many pathologic diseases that are included in other reviews. I would definitely not use only this book for review.

in my view. Its too short, lacks detail and needs to be supplemented by other books. It can be used as a supplementary book but not as the MAIN book for USMLE step 3 exam.

this book is a great review for usmle step 3. the question disc is a great way to apply the material. this disc has great answer explanations. The book is packed with relevant information. i cant remember seeing anything on the exam which wasnt covered in this book. The first time around may take 1-2 weeks but after that the read is quick. This is a great one stop shop if you are a few years past your intern year or have been out for a while. it has almost all the info you need for STEP 3.
