If you have heard the various musical offerings from the Red Army, You would have to conclude that Col Anatoly N. Bazhalkin's Song and dance ensemble is absolutely Russia's finest. The addition of womens' voices magnificently exceeds the excellence of the traditional "all male" sound of any existing and previous chorus. The women complete the sound famously. The orchestra also exceeds every standard. Anatoly runs a tight ship. Musical precision and discipline ring through. Soloists are World class! What's not to love?

I bought this as a result of viewing the "Red Star" DVD (See review). I was pleased to find this and "Kalinka" contained all my favorites from the Red Star performance. You get a magnificent cross section of folk, popular and military songs. I laughed out loud to hear the "Sports March" at disc's end. (From "Moscow on the Hudson" 1984 starring Robin Williams) It's among my favorites. Viewing the "Red Star" DVD will, no doubt, enhance your enjoyment and appreciation of "Moscow Nights" and it's companion offering, "Kalinka".
