Product Description

Redesigned from inside out, the new Cardette Ultra is a huge step up from its popular predecessor both in terms of looks and function. Its sleek aluminum exterior complements the new line of iMac and MacBooks exquisitely. Furthermore, it is equipped with the most advanced memory controller IC compatible with next generation high speed/high capacity memory cards. Unlike other generic card readers, Cardette Ultra supports all existing memory card standards with just 3 slots; making it easy to identify the correct slot for your memory card.

Cardette Ultra conveniently links to your Mac/PC via USB 2.0 and draws power directly from it, so there are no external power adapters required. It also comes integrated with two USB 2.0 ports so that you actually gain one extra USB port while plugged in.

Cardette Ultra is one of the very few future-proof card readers available today supporting the following memory card formats: all series of CompactFlash (CF) and MicroDrive, all series of Memory Stick (MS, MS Duo, MS PRO Duo), M2, MultiMediaCard (MMC), SecureDigital (SD), micro SD / TF, eXtremeDigital (xD-Picture), and SecureDigital High Capacity (SDHC), SDXC.

Good points:
-Small, lightweight, portable, convenient.
-The sliding bottom which opens to reveal a little storage spot for the cord and little labels for each port is very nicely done and very handy.
-runs very fast and very well
-extra USB ports are awesome! I can even charge my ipod from them, and as I understand it the ability to steal power from the computer that way isn't standard. Since I have a MacBook Air, I am very fond of this feature.
-Sturdy. I've had mine for over two years, and I've been using it fairly heavily for well over a year--and by 'fairly heavily' I mean 'leaving in my laptop for days on end'--and it's served me very well. I swear to god I've stepped on this thing without it taking any damage! I keep it in my drawer with everything-else-under-the-sun, and the dust accumulation doesn't bother it a bit, either.
-Simple! Really, for something so very useful, you'd think it would be more complicated, but no: with only 3 ports, it covers pretty much every kind of card out there. User-friendly and easy to use.

Bad points:
-the cord. The only real damage I've managed to do to this thing is to the cord, which is fairly robust, but leaving it plugged in while you're using your laptop on your lap, say, and moving it around a bit, causes a great deal of stress to the cord, especially since it's so short, which means that the cord doesn't flex much along the length, but rather a lot where the cord meets the USP plug, and it has to move and flex every time you shift--and if there's nothing under your Moshi Cardette to support it, all the weight is hanging off that plug.

Probably one of the best card readers I've bought! Love the look and it works with a wide selection of cards. I could see how eventually the cord can get wear and tear but I've been trying not to move it around too much. They do give you an extension and 2 extra USB hubs which is nice. I normally would not spend $35 for a card reader, but since I had an Apple Gift Card I just bought this item in the store. Very satisfied with this purchase!

I"m a photographer and upload photos all the time (hundreds at a time) to my computer. I really got tired of buying card readers and usually had 2 or 3 different ones that I used because one would only work with my Compact flash cards but it didn't work with the smaller cards so I had to get another reader and then they would sporadically go out and not work so I had a 3rd one on hand. I bought the Moshi Cardette Ultra Memory Card Reader a while back and have not used anything since and all the ports work all the time. It is very fast on the upload and I have never had a problem. I love it and have recommended it to several friends and they now use them also. Best buy around.

Sturdy, works perfectly, doesn't take up much real estate on my desk, and requires so little power that it works very well on a plugable USB hub, instead of having to take up one of the precious few USB ports on my computer.
