Great Product but needs some work!,

I love this clock. The set up only takes minutes and a breeze to set up the alarm. You don't have to worry about setting your alarm to the incorrect time anymore. The clock will repeat the time you said so you get confirmation when setting the clock. If you don't want to open your eyes to see what time it is all you have to do is ask it the time. This is an awesome feature for those of us who are lazy. The only feature that I didn't like was the snooze feature. The Moshi only lets you snooze three times then it turns off and resets itself for the next day. For those of us who ride the snooze button until the very last minute, this clock is not for you. Besides the snooze feature I highly recommend this clock.

I purchased this clock on a whim. Got it home and easily set it up. Took all of 5 minutes. I must have a newer model as I can choose from 1 color for the night light to the ever changing ones. I am also able to control the volumn. I highly recommend this product as it is easy to use, looks nice on the bedside table and is also fun to use. I am driving my husband crazy by always talking to my Moshi. I can not get over the way it takes commands and repeats back to you the time, temperature and the day and date.
Thinking of getting them for a couple of my oder grand kids for Christmas. Can't go wrong with this one.Moshi Voice Controlled Talking Alarm Clock

Like many of the other reviews I have read I agree; it just needs a little more work. The night light would be nice if you could chose the color. As it changes it colors the night light resembles a disco light show from the seventy's.There is no volume control. The volume in a sleeping house hold can wake the dead. The sleep sounds only stay on for five minutes, but blaring at a volume 10 who could sleep anyway. Besides those little annoying facts it works surprisingly well. The voice commands respond well. It looks and works great. I highly recommend it and will buy another one when they tweak it. All in all a great product I give it four stars.

I was a little hesitant purchase this item after reading some of the reviews but did. Anyway, it arrived yesterday & I love it. It worked flawlessly out of the box and I had no issues whatsoever. It recognized all my commands perfectly. I could even issue commands from the far side of the room. That said, if there is any background noise like a tV or radio, the clock may not hear or understand your commands properly. But that's the way it is with any device that uses voice recognition. Maybe previous posters had an earlier model but mine works just as advertised. Love it!

Agree with many of the other reviewers so far on the Moshi Clock. It is a great product, though could use enhancements.
Pros * Speaks time, date, alarm time, and temperature clearly. And in a voice that's much more pleasant than HAL. * It's very easy to set the time and alarm. (The date must be set manually, though how often do you need to set the date?) * Moshi understands my commands about 98-99% of the time. The other 1% is probably because I'm just waking up and my voice is making it cringe. (See button enhancement later). * Moshi can hear me from across the room, when I'm speaking at normal volume. It's actually both eerie and neat. * Moshi has *not* prompted incorrectly when the TV has been on. (I thought Moshi might constantly hear something similar to "Hello Moshi" and prompt for a command; fortunately, it hasn't). * This version's nighlight permits you to select between a constant blue backlight or one that cycles through multiple colors. As Gary from NJ said quite rightly, the latter option is like a 70's discotheque, it may make you feel like you should be wearing an 70's leisure suit to bed. * The footprint of the clock is reasonable, not as wide as most alarm clocks. More room for my fiance's magazines, though her iPhone is now jealous it's no longer the newest gadget in the apartment. Enhancements I'd Like To See * The nightlight's single blue backlight color is too bright for nighttime (and ironically the nighlight is needed sometimes during the day to see the numbers against what would otherwise be black on a grey background). It would be helpful to be able to dim the amount of light. (Really, there shouldn't even be a nightlight option - just a backlight option, with four choices: off, dim, bright, and auto adjust based on ambient light in the room (this last item is an option my TV has, so it is within the realm of possibilities)). * The sleep sounds are short segments of sounds with a noticable repeating pattern. The manufacturers can take a cue from the iPhone's Ambiance app which provides longer segments with seamless repetition and sound much more authentic. * There is a volume control with three options: L/M/H; however these appear to stand for Lound / More Loud / Hearing Challenged. * Providing the temperature is nice, but as it doesn't tell the humidity, I still need to hang on to my Oregon Scientific. It would be nice if I could get the humidity and keep one less gadget around. * Allow the alarm to be switched on by voice. (You can set the actual time and alarm sound by voice, but apparently to turn it on/off, you need to flip a switch in the back). * Add a discrete bottom to the top of the base in the front; when you press it, the time is spoken. (Much like the old Vox clock I miss so much). This would be particularly helpful when you're first waking up and your voice may not be up to snuff. Hope this review is helpful.

Moshi Talking Alarm Clock...A Smart Buy,

I received my Moshi talking alarm clock in a timely manner and, though it does not come boxed, I was thoroughly pleased how I was able to get it set up right away. My most daunting fear was that I would not be coherent enough upon awakening so as to be able to get the Moshi clock to turn off the alarm. But I am most pleased how it responds to my voice quite efficiently. Now, I am not too crazy about the night light feature only because it alternates between colors. A single color would have sufficed and perhaps a dimmer function would have been desirable. The voice of the clock may be a bit too loud for some and I would submit that it would have been nice to have added a way of setting the volume level. All in all, the Moshi Interactive Voice Activated Timepiece does as advertised and is a smart buy at $49.95 plus shipping, and is a great way to amaze and amuse your family and friends. I highly recommend it.

Moshi Is A Novelity Alarm Clock, That is also Sexist!,
By
This review is from: Moshi Elite Speak N Set Voice Activated Desk Clock (Kitchen)
Our old GE general alarm clock died. I picked out an expensive replacement. My wife disagreed and this is the unit she instead picked.
It came in a plain brown box. It set-up quickly and easily. The power supply has a super bright blue-LED that illuminates half of the bedroom. (doubles as a night light :>) Moshi and I stumbled through setting the time, alarm etc, until it was all complete. I would often call Moshi as I was excited about the new technology, however Moshi always screws up, interestedly enough Moshi often understands my wife the first time. I am from Cali and have no slur, mumble, or accent, and nor does my wife. This unit must respond better to the female pitch. We never use this alarm clock, it doesn't remember to go off two days in a row, so before bed you must tell Moshi to set alarm clock, then tell Moshi, what time, then what sound to play, every time! Oh, but don't worry Moshi will screw up somewhere and you must start over. Also Moshi will be watching tv with us in the bedroom and think that Her name is randomly being called, She then follows it up with "I'm sorry I did not understand your command" in a loop until you play along or slap the screen which doubles as snooze button, slash "shut up Moshi" switch. We just use our Iphones as alarms now. Moshi Keeps the time, that it does ok, seeing that it doesn't know what day light saving is, you just have to wake up via some other alarm clock, then tell moshi to update her self to the new time. Moshi is a Novelty Alarm clock, not a serious contender for those of us with jobs! Save your Money, unless you intend for it to be a "Fun" alarm clock kept in the spare bed room. BTW, It it really cool looking.

My Moshi is Great!,

I will start off by saying that Moshi works well for time, date, and temperature. The "sleep" sounds and alarm work, but not as well as they could. Is there another alarm clock, which not only looks this nice and talks to you, but at this price? When I first saw this clock online it was around $80. For that price I would be disappointed if all features did not work flawlessly. Not bad for half the price.
I received the package in a couple of days, well before expected (In a shipping box and retail box). Inside: Moshi, 5 easy steps (to help you get started), Warranty (90 days essentially) and an Operation Manual. You do need to have the clock plugged in and 3 AAA batteries; to set the date and to use the manual buttons on the back. There is a "touch" function, where the screen itself pivots backwards, acting as a button. This is to turn off the "sleep" sounds if unwanted, or to snooze on the alarm. Just press the screen with your finger and problem solved. I just figured out how to permanently turn off the alarm; all you must do is say "set alarm" then press the screen to cancel. If Moshi has heard you wrong - say cancel clearly and it will disengage (or press the screen). Anytime it has misheard me I have been out of breath or my voice has been hoarse - I just slow down and speak clearly, it hears me perfectly. No problems with the power cord falling out - maybe earlier models?? The nightlight can be changed from the single Blue light, to color changing. The nightlight does not stay on unless you engage it by saying "Nightlight." Which is nice because Moshi does not light up unless you say "Hello Moshi" - I do not like bright digital numbers at night, so Moshi only lighting up to tell me the time is nice. There have been no problems with my music playing and Moshi responding, a worry I had prior to purchase. I am very pleased with my Moshi; it works well if the button layout is fully understood.

Great idea in theory, works well at first,

When I first got this, it worked GREAT! I was able to use the voice commands easily. You don't have to turn the alarm on every night; as long as your wake-up time is the same, the alarm will go off the next day.
If you are like me, and hit snooze but get up before the 9 minutes are up, Moshi is annoying. I tap Moshi to activate the snooze feature, then 4 or 5 minutes later will say, "Turn off alarm," and Moshi responds with "The alarm is off." But then the alarm goes off anyway after the snooze time is up, and I have to tell it to "Turn off alarm" again. Not a big deal if there's no one else in bed, but I feel guilty every time it happens. The reason I gave only 3 stars is that the time and alarm become harder to program after you've had Moshi for awhile. The plug is a little loose and pulls out easily, so I have had to reset the time a dozen times. I will tell Moshi "set time" then "10:14 PM." Moshi tells me "the time is..." and give me the wrong time. Sometimes, it took me so long to set the time that I had to keep looking at my watch for updates. 10:14....10:15...10:16. Same thing with the alarm. This didn't happen when it was new, but I thought it was just my voice. Well, I got one for my dad before I had this problem. And when I went to program his, I did it on the first try! Worked great, just like mine did at first. EDIT: You tap Moshi to start the 9 minute snooze. If you tap Moshi again, the alarm will turn off. So there was an easy-to-use snooze feature. |
