AMAZING TECHNOLOGY!,

This review is from: Moshi IVR006 Voice Control Digital Clock Radio Black (Electronics)
I bought this not expecting the voice command to work SO well!I can be out of the room( bathroom getting ready) and and ask MOSHI and get my answer! I watch Tv with home theatre system and I have never had it go off in the 6 months I have had this. The pleasant waking up sound and Miss Moshi tells you the day and time. I love to say Thank you and Miss moshi says "you're welcome" The am/fm stereo sounds great and picks up all of my stations! It's so easy to set the 2 seperate alarms ( which is great for a couple who get up at different times). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my MOSHI! ( I have bought 2 more for gifts, I am so impressed with this device) features : volume on MOSHI voice, am/fm 3 preset stations, gorgeous colbalt blue display settings. So nice to be sleeping on my side and and just ask moshi instead of just about having to get out of bed for the time. This is a 10 star item!

Fun, not perfect,

Beautiful looking, built sturdy. However-- it has several problems:1) It frequently will pick up a phrase on TV or radio (or someone in your house) and engage the command sequence ("Command Please"). Just about anything that rhymes with, or is even close to, "Hello Moshi" (its command engagement) will set it off. 2) Just as frequently, the alarm does NOT sound at the pre-set time, and once it has gone off 5 minutes LATE. 3) AM radio reception is non-existent. 4) It would be nice to have a male/female voice selection. 5) Frequently, it does not comprehend commands. It has turned the radio on when I've told it to set the alarm, for example. Voice placement/tone/volume is critical, so be ready to attempt many voice settings at times. 6) Three screen brightnesses: Bright (too bright), medium (almost unreadable), and off (why?). 7) Be ready to yell "SNOOOOZE" over your spouse/partner if you want to invoke the voice snooze command when the alarm sounds (she/he/they will probably NOT be happy). Overall, this is a quality product that introduces an interesting (and fun) interactive concept. Hopefully, the manufacturer can solve the many bugs.

It talks and listens,

This talking clock/radio is very easy to use. The female voice is clear and understandable. It is easy to verbally set the time, date and alarm. The AM and FM radio presets are a bit more difficult but once you get the hang of it, you will find it easy. Once the radio is playing, you can not do any further voice commands because the microphone is being blasted with music so Moshi (the product name that you must use when giving a command) can't hear you speaking. If you like to wake gently to either alarm or music, this is a great item. The alarm volume or radio volume start low and gradually build louder and louder rather than jolting you out of a sound sleep. The manufacturer even built in manners. Once Moshi gives you the time, if you say "Thank you" the item will reply, "You're welcome." I like it!

To all of you who gave a low score to the Moshi AM FM IVR 006 clock radio, apologise to the radio, as the radio did in speaking with you. The radio instructions did not tell you to speak in a "slow normal voice. Nor did it tell you to raise your voice in decibels to get the point across. Too, you were not told to get right up within an inch of the mic and command it. And it did not say to shout insanely at it as if it will listen to the sound of you, as you pack it up and get it ready for a return trip to the store. I know what I am talking about because I got my first one and was frustrated because right out of the box it could not understand the difference between "SET TIME" and "SET ALARM" or AM to PM. I returned it telling my wife that I really don't want another. I got a replacement though, just to find it doing the same thing again. Then, I did as I was told with the manual and spoke a few feet away in a normal low pitch, pace, and power voice and WOW!, We started listening to each other and the results were marvelous. I now love my new Moshi IVR 006.When you get it, set it up where you are going to use it. Speak each command in a LOW normal voice with no raised volume and do not speak slowly because the radio must be stupid. The receiving microphone is made to accept a low volume regular voice. I spoke in that manner and to my surprise it listened near perfectly. Moshi and I are getting along quite nicely now. PS the manual also states that when waking to AM FM radio You can not turn it off by command. Only when using the alarm sounds can you voice command it to go off. You need to tap the "on and off/reset" button each morning to stop your radio and reset for the next day. For me, I like the alarm sounds which do work with the "Turn off alarm" command. Buy it or try it again. Just remember to communicate in the right way. Thank you Moshi!!

Does not work as advertised.,
This review is from: Moshi IVR006 Voice Control Digital Clock Radio Black (Electronics)
I recently purchased this product from Brookstone only to realize that the voice recognition feature doesn't appear to work as advertised. I plugged the clock into a quiet bedroom and tested it out. The voice recognition would pick up on the "Hello Moshi" command, but would fail to recognize most of the other follow-on voice commands. There was no distracting background noise that would have interfered with the voice recognition, albeit Moshi advertises that the clock can still pick up your voice commands even in somewhat noisy environments. Moreover, my voice commands were said in a "slow normal" pace (which is what the instruction manual states). The device would only register the "Hello Moshi" command but would simply not recognize any of the other commands.I then took this clock back to Brookstone for a refund. The sales rep offered to replace the device so I took him up on his offer but only if I could test out the replacement device in the store. This time, the sales rep did the test run and again, the clock simply would not pick up any commands after "Hello Moshi". He finally managed to get it to work only after nearly shouting into the clock's microphone. At that point, there was no question of refund. If you are looking for a basic clock radio, this will suffice though there is no need to fork over $69 plus shipping fees. Unless I had bad luck with two defective clocks, I have a feeling that the voice recognition device doesn't work as advertised. My advise is to test run the device at the store before you walk out.

I recommend the Moshi voice-activated alarm clock.Every morning: Musical "duh duh duh" / Church bells (which grow louder and louder every 10 seconds or so.) I wake up enough to say groggily, "Turn alarm off." Moshi doesn't hear me, and keeps playing the alarm. I clear my throat and say in a slightly louder than conversational tone, "Turn. Alarm. OFF!" And this can go on, anywhere from getting it the first time to 5 times in a row without turning off, and Moshi finishes with a "Good morning!! The time is! Six! fif-teen A-M! The date is June thir-teenth, two-thousand ee-lev-en!" Doesn't -quite- have the pauses indicated, but after you hear her (female voice) for a while, you pick up on them and start replying to her with the same tone and inflection in order to get her to pick up on your orders. Bad: Moshi can be a real deaf pain in the ass. The following goes on almost every time, depending on how often I need to reset one or both alarms. "Hel-lo Moshi!" "Co-mmand please." "Set. Alarm." "Please choose a-larm one or a-larm two." "A-larm two!" "Please say the alarm time." "Six-Fif-TEEN AM" "Alarm two is set to: Six. Fifty-AM!" "You bitch!" "You're welcome!" This can go on for up to 5 minutes, and either setting the alarm or turning it off (along with any other commands) can be difficult when you have, let's say, a cold. If you have a very heavy accent (French, Deep South, trouble pronouncing some words like "time" so they turn out more like "tame" or "tahm") I wouldn't recommend it. She also responds to movies and music sometimes, so I tend to turn her volume down. Also, if a power outage happens, do remember to set her alarm sound - otherwise, it goes straight to (in my case) a fuzz only radio station, and you won't wake up (so definitely still keep a battery run backup). Seriously though, overall, Moshi yt is very helpful in waking me up. It's just that sometimes, she's that coworker who gives you the annual financial report when all you asked for was the finance manager's e-mail address. Be patient with her, and she'll treat you well.

Moshi makes the difference for me,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Moshi IVR006 Voice Control Digital Clock Radio Black (Electronics)
I'm guessing a few people received bad units because in reading the reviews, I see they're everything from good to bad. For myself, I can't say enough good things about this Moshi. This product touts its features that are voice activated, which I do appreciate, however my unexpected surprise is the alarm itself. I say the best thing about this product is the fact that when the alarm goes off, the sound level starts at near 0, and then gradually gets louder until it reaches the volume you had already set. Bottom line here is, no more suddenly being woken up from a sound sleep. This small thing makes a very big difference in starting my day. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is, a person is unable to set the date with a voice command. I am blind, and bought this Moshi for the voice activated features. Setting the date however is not however nearly as important as being able to set the time and alarm, and asking Moshi for the time. So, I still give this product a high rating. I'm quite pleased.

I am returning this item. I purchased it for a relative who has macular degeneration. First, we were unable to tune in the radio stations she desired. Secondly, the buttons have way too sensitive a touch for someone with minimal vision to use. Anything more than the slightest tap to a radio station preset caused the button to be reset to whatever the current station was. I had programmed the buttons before giving to her, then kept getting phone calls that each button was tuned to the same station. The one + is Brookstone will refund my money even though we are beyond their 30-day return policy. I ordered it several weeks before Christmas as a gift so was on 20+ days before it was even plugged in, but their policy was clearly stated.
