5.0 out of 5 stars Good address book for mature adults
This is great address book for such reasonable price. The print was big enough for us low vision adults. Will buy it again.

This Moshi alarm clock is such a cool concept. The design is very nice, the display is good and big, and the voice feature is a great selling point.

This Moshi alarm clock is such a cool concept. The design is very nice, the display is good and big, and the voice feature is a great selling point.

Now for the bad news. I am on my third replacement! They just keep breaking! Some of my replacements were even DOA straight out of the box! The problem seems to be that something goes bad in these clocks that causes them to not be able to "hear" so well. It might work well for a few months at first, but then it stops being able to hear me correctly (if at all). Here is how a common night goes for me:

me: "Hello Moshi"

moshi: *no response*

me: "HELLO MOSHI!"

moshi: *no response*

me: "HELLO MOSHI!"

moshi: "Command Please"

me: "Set Alarm"

moshi: "What time would you like your alarm to sound"

me: "6:00AM"

moshi: "Your alarm is set for 7:04PM. Your alarm is on."

Then I get to start all over.

My current Moshi worked fine for about a year (a record for me!). Now that its acting up again, I tried to contact the moshi customer service. I have gotten no email replies from them this time around. I tried calling the number listed on their website (moshilifestyle.com) but I never get an answer, and they didnt even bother to setup an answering machine message (its just the default generic message). They haven't returned my call.

So the moral here is that, although Moshi does have some neat features (which is the only reason I gave it 2 stars), you should probably think twice about purchasing this product.

It is all the time on my desk. Very helpful and comfortable especially for big schoolbooks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! I also have the Fellowes 21140., September 13, 2009
This review is from: Moshi Voice Controlled Talking Alarm Clock (Health and Beauty)
I purchased 2 book stands, this one and a Fellowes 21140 fold-up stand with two prongs on the bottom to hold the pages open.

This book stand quickly became my primary stand for my home desk for several reasons:

- It is larger (better for holding freakishly large textbooks, but too big to use in class where space is a premium).

- The base is a solid piece which you can see in the picture (you can change the height by placing the lift into different spots on the base). This was a plus for my home desk because I do not need to worry about scratching the wood. The fellows does not have a full base and I fear the bottom parts may scratch certain surfaces.

- It has been able to hold all of my textbooks, including my hardcover 1,920 page Black's Dictionary. That being said, I frequently leave my standard 1,300 page textbooks on the stand at all hours; I would not, however, leave the Dictionary on the stand for extended hours for fear of continued wear.

- Books are placed on a plastic lip on the bottom that seems small and insignificant, but after 3 weeks of continued use it has not been affected whatsoever.

- Sometimes the book misses the lip and it stays on by the cover, without any of the pages touching the lip - continued use like this may be a problem for your book and the lip. Really simple solution - be aware that this can happen and take 4 seconds to make sure the book is fully on the stand and, when you open it, make sure both sides of the book, pages included, are on the stand. Please note- not all pages can fit on the lip because the lip is approximately 1 inch deep. You should be checking to make sure that pages that can fit on the lip, are on the lip.

- There is a small white elastic band (visible in the picture on the left side of the book, halfway down, in the margin) which is as thin as the smallest hair ties. I have used this band for readings at the beginning and ends of books, while it is not overly effective, it does provide marginal assistance. I find the tabs on the Fellowes to be more effective than this band, when working with the first 150 pages. Reviews often say the tabs on the Fellows are flimsy and fail to work, I've found them to be limited, but better than this band.

- This stand can also be used as a clipboard. Because I use it solely at home I have not tried this feature. The clip seems study and able to hold a decent amount of papers (the clip opens noticeably more than a medium sized black binder clip)
