This is a great little setup for putting an accessory on a Mosin-Nagant rifle with little or no gunsmithing. However, the purchaser should remember that if you're planning on putting a scope on the rifle with this kit, it will have to be a long eye relief scope, which can cost up to over 4 times what you paid for the rifle! It would be much easier to purchase a bent bolt kit and put a scope on that way. If you're thinking a Red Dot sight or another sight system, this is the perfect choice for you.

The mount is not stationary. It pivots up and down on its mounting screw making it difficult at best and impossible at least to sight the scope. The nut on the mounting screw loosens as the rifle is fired causing more sighting problems. Further tightening the nut caused the screw to bend. I had to put the stock military sights back on the rifle.

let me start by saying that i removed the leaf spring, and used blue lock-tite. the front set screw had to be ground flat to set properly on the sight base (it was trying to eat the base). the bottom of mount i ground trying to get it to fit right. mount is too short for proper mounting of a regular eye-relief scope. i put both rings on the front section of tube. first the trunion loosened up, then the set screws did their thing. i had line sighted my scope to my bore at 100yds, but only landed 7 out of 19 shots. the spread on the five was about 12 inches. unless you are willing to shell out for a long eye relief scope, i wouldn't recommend this particular item. (smeared mixed LT onto elev set screws; and set the smaller set screws, after i affixed the trunion in the same manner)
