Doubling the dose seems to help against Asian Tiger,
By Bill "Enemy of All Mosquitoes" (North Potomac, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mosquito Barrier 2001 Liquid Spray Repellent, 1-Quart (Lawn & Patio)
From the other reviews and one reviewer's comment, I concluded that the difference between the west coast success and east coast failure was the Asian Tiger mosquito. So I doubled the concentration to 6 oz. per gallon and sprayed everywhere I could. My dog usually attracts a cloud of mosquitoes whenever he is outside. After the spraying he only attracted a couple and none the next day. I see an occasional mosquito wandering through the yard, but it doesn't come after me. She seems lost. There are still mosquitoes in my driveway and in the woods behind my house where I haven't sprayed, but I plan to spray those areas next. Now that I know that Mosquito Barrier will work, I plan to use as needed, and heavily, until the season is over (first freeze). My neighbors have noticed the smell but they like it.

Works great,
I mixed and sprayed this product 2 weeks ago, following the instructions. The first couple of days I would get a whiff of garlic in the yard, but it soon disippated. As of tonight the mosquitos still are not bothering me, and they used to LOVE me. I could barely go in the yard for 5 minutes with the dogs and I'd come back with at least 3 or 4 bites. If you're having mosquito problems, I'd definitely give this a try.

I used a mosquito service last year who sprayed for me, and she made the mistake of showing me what she sprayed and how she did it...now I am doing it myself*!!! If you start early in the spring- like March for here in Texas- you can actually prevent the problem before it starts. It is much harder to control once you already have a problem.
Follow the directions on the package, also adding in the vegetable oil (to kill larvae) and I add about 15-20 drop of peppermint essential oil. It is also an insect repellent and hides the smell of the garlic, which can be strong initially. Remember that mosquitoes lay their eggs not just in damp areas, but in soil, those deep dry cracks we sometimes get in our yard, gutters where leaves pile up, inside tight-leaved shrubs like boxwoods, etc. Try and spray very liberally around those areas and do it when it is sunny so that it can dry effectively and make sure to repeat if it rains within 48 hours of spraying. Yes, it takes a little time, but it is worth it for me to have a nice yard where our family can hang out. Also remember that a mosquito will travel a VERY far way- like a mile- for a meal, so you are never going to eliminate every mosquito, but this product is effective if used properly. *I use in conjunction with Dr. T's granules- one week I spray and one week I spread granules.

Works great - non toxic - easy to use!,

We live in Central PA, and while we really don't have any mosquitos to speak of, we do have ticks, fleas and gnats. I have two dogs, and a large organic vegetable garden, and this stuff is great! We spray our grassy areas, fence, and vegetables without worrying about toxic chemicals. If you use this product regularly and as directed, it will work like a charm! Our primary reason for trying this product was that we do not treat our dogs with harmful "spot" type insecticides. We spray our dogs down with "Dirty & Hairy" (another great product), and treat our yard religiously with Mosquito Barrier, every two weeks. No ticks, no fleas, no gnats. I do find that it is more effective with the gnat population if you use it "straight", without the addition of soap and oil. Also, invest in a backpack sprayer - they're easier to use than the smaller pump sprayers, and get the job done in half the time.

I have used this for the past two summers. I live in WI in a very wooded area so there are a lot ticks and mosquitoes. We have a cat and a child so using a natural product is very important to us. One bottle will last me most of the summer and I have seen a reduction in mosquitoes and absolutely no ticks! My main concern are the ticks. Many kids in our area have had Lyme Disease so I am concerned for my own child's health. I always add canola oil and dish soap to help the product stick better and last longer. I do use another product to repel mosquitoes when we have activities outdoors in the evening, but overall I am happy with this product. The only real downside is the price.

Hallelujiah, we can play in the yard!,

For years we have avoided going outside in our Central Virginia yard due to mosquitos swarming around is. With a toddler and a new baby, I needed to be able to play at home more, so we gave this a try. It worked wonderfully. For the first few days it was eerily completely mosquito free, and gradually a few returned at peak times. I would def. recommend trying this product.

smells great---works okay,
The smell of this product after spraying is amazing---it has a very strong garlic smell that lasts for several hours. It seemed to work as well as some of the other more toxic products on the market---however Mosquito Be Gone is still the winner for getting rid of mosquitos. I like the idea of using products that are environmentally friendly---however, with the horrible mosquitos that invaded Galveston, Texas this year, we needed something a bit stronger for our yard. I would use Mosquito Barrier again, however----mostly when the threat of mosquitos is not severe.

BEST Earth Friendly Repellent EVER!,
By Elizabeth Brown "Joy" (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mosquito Barrier 2001 Liquid Spray Repellent, 1-Quart (Lawn & Patio)
We live in South Jersey near the shore (marshes are less than 3 blocks away) and I've NEVER been one to stay outside longer than to put out the laundry on the line & bring them back in because of the mosquitoes & gnats. Not this year! My husband's an organic vegetable gardener & we refuse to use anything that's artificial near our plants. Mosquito Barrier did the trick! I can't tell you how great it is to enjoy a cocktail & dinner on our beautiful back deck without getting bitten up alive (btw-mosquitoes REALLY love my scent, which used to make it even worse for me!) We spray it everywhere, including on the veg. plants without a worry... & the veggies don't taste like garlic! My neighbor was so impressed, she's now using it. I intend to let everyone know how wonderful this product is. No chemicals. I just wish I knew about this sooner!
