I dont know where to start. I live on five acres on a small farmette in southeastern Wisconsin. The mosquito season is bad here. So I was not expecting to control all of the mosquito population. A reduction of 50 percent would have been nice. My yard is very well mantained and the grass is kept cut. friends down the road spent $150-$200 having their yard sprayed with...

We live in Arkansas where the mosquitos can be quite ferocious. They don't bother me, but attack my wife like there's no tomorrow. We purchased this product with some reluntance, but wanted to try organic as we have a toddler that we did not want to potentially expose to pestisides.
Immediately after using, I noticed that the mosquito colony that was living under our deck had about disappeareded. My wife, who couldn't go outside to take the dog for a 'potty break' w/o getting bit 3 or 4 times immediately noticed a difference. They weren't completely gone, but it did seem to make a difference. The smell OUTSIDE was not nearly as powerful as I had anticipated, but I would highly recommend that when you are mixing your solution - to do so outside. I mixed my first batch in the kitchen sink and our kitchen smelled like garlic for a few days. It didn't bother me, but may be obnoxious to some.
So we were pleased customers. While a pesticide or fogging agent could be more effective, we feel better using this due to our child who plays a great deal in the back yard.

I dont know where to start. I live on five acres on a small farmette in southeastern Wisconsin. The mosquito season is bad here. So I was not expecting to control all of the mosquito population. A reduction of 50 percent would have been nice. My yard is very well mantained and the grass is kept cut. friends down the road spent $150-$200 having their yard sprayed with complete success. They commented how they could spend evenings out on their deck without a single bite. I asked them what they used and found out it was all natural extract from some type of flower. So trying to save a few extra dollars I gave Mosquito Barrier a try. I purchased a $50 sprayer to aply. Having read the directions I measured properly and sprayed everything! Days later nothing. Matter of fact it did not due a bit of good! So I decided to call the TOLL FREE PHONE NUMBER on the back. Being polite I explained to the man my problem. he was rude and kept asking me to refer to the website for the answers. Ok then dont bother putting a TOLL FREE NUMBER on the bottle under the website. What does a California based company know about mosquitos in the Midwest I dont know. All talk and marketing. I am getting ready to return the product to the company I will keep you posted.

5.0 out of 5 stars No More Mosquitoe Heaven, May 31, 2007

I live in Northeastern Mass. Surrounded by Woods and Marsh. I have lived in my house for 10 years.I have been able to use my Back yard more in the last 2 years since using this product , than the total time from the previous 8 years. Its clean and effective and is not susceptible to the wind. I spray around three to four times through the Summer and usually give it another if I have a Special occasion coming up. It is extremely obvious when I see my neighbours Slapping the Mossies, while I'm standing untouched watching them. Of course some fly through, but they are not living in the grass. I have two young children and Feel Totally safe using this product.

We had this applied last summer by our organic lawn care company. We had fantastic results. We are going to try it ourselves this summer. I've bought the garden sprayer and will get a bottle of canola oil to mix with the product. I noticed some people said this didn't work and the product description here said to mix with water. The lawn service said to mix with canola oil or something similar. I also know you need to make sure it won't rain until after it has had time to dry. Maybe people would have better luck if they did those two things. Mosquitoes really like me and I was able to be in our heavily wooded yard without my usual arsenal of sprays and clothing and netting from our gazebo.

4.0 out of 5 stars Saving one star for mid-summer update, May 23, 2010

It has worked for us so far. The real test will come in July/August. If I can take my kids out back and not smother them in DEET every day or smack dozens of mosquitoes from their foreheads during the middle of the day, I will change the rating to 5 stars! I use the following formula: 2 gallons of water, 16 oz. mosquito barrier, 4 oz. canola oil.

We live in Washington, DC and like to eat outside during dusk. I sprayed for the first time three weeks ago and again two days ago. I saw one mosquito land, but not bite, and was reminded to spray again. I spray everything. The bushes, the grass, the fence, the sides of the house, the garbage cans, the trunks of trees, the plants growing in between the neighbor's chain link fence, and I spray the storm drains. I spray as vertically as the sprayer will reach with my feet on the ground.

The neighbors smelled the garlic as they were turning the corner to our block the evening, but the smell is gone. And so are the mosquitoes. Good luck to us all.

This product is a big waste of money. Directions state that one quart will cover 1 1/4 acres, however, I used one quart on 1/2 acre and Dr T's Pellet repellent on a 50 x 50 area. The area sprayed with the Mosquito Barrier is worse than it was before and the Dr T's section is great! Mosquito Barrier is 4 times the cost of Dr T's and Dr T's works 100 times better in my opinion. I would not recommend buying the Mosquito Barrier-Liquid since it did not work to control the mosquitos or even reduce the number of mosquitos in the yard. The amount of work in following the directions (spraying the lawn, trees, bushes, under side of deck, etc) is not worth the results. The container states that the mosquitos are killed on contact and will keep them away for 2-4 weeks depending on weather conditions. Save your money! Buy something else. This product is junk!!!

We live right next to the Florida Everglades. Needless to say the Mosquito's here are very bad. I purchased this product and sprayed the yard as directed. Amazing results. Not only are the mosquito's gone but all insects seem to have disappeared. I will use this product in the future. I originally bought this stuff to help with the Ticks, "which are bad this year," and we have not seen a tick since. Could not be happier. I do recommend however, spray everything and don't leave anything out. If you want to be bug free you MUST spray EVERYTHING. It works!

We were throwing a wedding reception in our back yard, located right next to mangroves and an inland tidal area in Florida. We also have french drains that breed mosquitos all year around. We have a lot of trouble using our outdoor space even in the winter. Knowing that the only thing that could ruin the party was pests, I wanted a repellant that was eco-friendly because people would be barefoot and everything sprayed on the lawn ends up in the water after a rain. We sprayed the Mosquito Barrier three days prior to the event, over all the grass, mangroves, bushes and flowers. The mosquitos literally flew away (maybe died somewhere?) while we sprayed, and they have only begun to come back a week later (we had two bother us last night). I cannot tell you how AMAZING it was that there was NOT ONE mosquito during our party for 100 people. It sure smelled like a crushed garlic factory out there for a few hours right after we sprayed, but it didn't last very long. I told the story many times as people were amazed that in 90 degree heat, completely still air and all those people, there was not a single flying bug anywhere. I will definitely use this product again!

I was hoping for the best, but the Long Island mosquitoes win again. Not to dispute other claims, but I didn't get the results that were mentioned in reviews I read before purchasing. I tried it, followed the directions and not so great results. Buyer beware.

This appears to be a bad year for mosquitoes. I have tried the propane foggers, the bug zappers and this is the best way to deter these pests so you can enjoy your yard.
