Other than the monograph by Carpenter & LaCasse (1955) which deals with the entire U. S. fauna, there is no single source of taxonomic and bionomic information on the mosquitoes of northeastern United States. This work provides such information for species that occur in New York State. Part I includes keys for identification of genera of all stages (except eggs). Only the genus Aedes is treated in detail in this volume; Part II treats the remaining genera and species. The detailed text includes distribution, medical importance, and taxonomic references. 64 species of mosquitoes are treated with these two volumes.
