Ordered this mount here and later the same day ended up doing some shopping at Walmart. Saw the same mount (or so I thought) hanging on a peg for 19.95. Damn ! Taking a closer look I discover the Walmart unit is actually plastic. 4 bucks more here for an aluminum mount that should easily last the life of the Mossy is a no-brainer.

Fit and finish on mine was excellent. Purchased from SBDGLOBAL, it arrived 2 days later with a very nice handwritten customer appreciation note- thats the kind of service I'm always looking for but seldom get.

It mounted up precisely with no slop, comes with all the tools and hardware you'll need to do a professional install. Don't be tempted by cheap imitations that will leave you disappointed in the long run, this one is the real deal.

i love this piece of equipment. fit my mossberg 88 like a glove. installation was a sinch. all tools included.
it not only came in < 3 days through regular USPS delivery, but also came with a hand-written note from the vendor thanking me for my business.
i will definitely do business with sun optics usa in the future for their sense of urgency, merchandise and sense of appreciation with the costumer.

THE SKINNY: I wasn't looking closely when I bought this and thought I was ordering a B-Square mount. Had I been looking, I would have realized that it has a picatinny top rail, rather than the lesser used weaver. That is the only real difference between this one and the B-Square mount that costs $15 more.

CON'S:

There are a couple lines in the back finish. They're tiny and they don't affect functionality of this product and are really hard to see, but I'm just letting you know if you're insanely meticulous about that.

BOTTOM LINE: Having them side-by-side to compare, they are almost exactly the same weight (as they are the same shape, other than the rail difference. They appear to be made out of the same metal, both pretty durable. I would recommend this saddle mount above any alternatives.

This Scope mount for the Mossberg Maverick 88 was a perfect fit. Its strong, well made and really looks good. I'm very pleased with it.

I ordered and received a mossberg defender 12 gauge and was confronted with having to have a gunsmith drill and tap the receiver for a red dot sight I had in mind. Lo and behold I found this scope mount in which I could mount a scope sights etc. without drilling the receiver. It was very easy and once attached with contained hardware it was solid and quite acceptable as an alternative to drilling tapping and buying a rail not to consider the delay involved.

This piece was exactly what I was looking for to mount an optic. It installs within a couple of minutes using pre-existing holes and blends well with the gun. Once mounted, it feels extremely secure but I would use some blue loc-tite to ensure the bolts won't move once you start killing zombies.

fast and easy install. one screw and one friction pin was all that had to be removed to install. solid, there is no wiggle at all in the part unlike other rails built to slip over recievers that ive purchased for other guns. if you want a way to scope your model 88 this is the product to buy. im glad i bought it.

This mount is good and solid. It installs easily, comes with nice hardware and fits quite well.

HOWEVER, it doesn't have a peep through for the iron sights, it channels a lot of shock up into the mount (which fractured my BSA reflex sight) and the nut that goes on the exterior will fall right off without using some kind of thread-locker (not supplied).

If you choose this one just be careful about mounting anything toward the rear of the rail And have some thread-lock on hand.

An alternative mount that does have a peep through and doesn't seem to channel a lot of shock is the Millett Aluminum Shotgun Saddle Mount for Mossberg 500, 835, 12 Gauge. I have used both.

This was purchased months ago. Finally decided to install it. It fits very well to the receiver. Seems like a solid way to add a rail to the Maverick 88 for slug gun hunting. The scope is mounted. Need to sight it in and see how the rail adapter holds up.
