4.0 out of 5 stars Answers many common questions about your cat, April 29, 2002
By
This review is from: The 125 Most-Asked Questions About Cats (And the Answers) (Hardcover)
Why do people fear black cats? How often should a cat be bathed? Do cats dream? Why do cats purr? How much privacy do cats need? Why do cats have whiskers?

If you like cats, this book answers all kinds of questions. We just adopted a stray, and although I had cats as a child, I found out that I really didn't know much about cat care or cat behavior. I found this book very interesting. But it wasn't really informative. Most questions are answered in a page or less. I recommend it as a quick read, but unless you really love cats or love reading about them, I would recommend you borrow it or check it out from the library like I did. It's not a book I plan to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Packed with great advice, the cat fancier of the family will love this book !, September 7, 2010
You don't know what the phrase "mystery of the universe" is until you include a cat in the family! I think it is the very process of wanting to better understand the behavior of one's cat(s) that make these challenging little creatures so very interesting and lovable!

Don't let this lovely little book fool you -- it's packed with excellent, practical advice and well-worth purchasing as a gift to the friend, relative or family cat fancier you know.

Touching on topics as diverse as why cats purr, why do people fear black cats, cat dreams, the ability of cats to sense an impending earthquake, their extraordinary hearing, how playing loud rock music can give cats ulcers and cause aural pain, how to hold a kitten, what are the most popular breeds, when to declaw, whether or not you should give your cat cream/milk, how far can a cat fall and survive, and do cats recognize their own name? It's full of great advice!

Highly recommended for public and school libraries or as a gift to the cat-lovers in your life.
