Editorial Reviews

Review

"I've never been so lied to by a book's title and yet been so pleased about it."
  Silent Evil Reviews (11/03/2013)

"You just laugh out loud at the sheer banality of life. Unusual, amusing, not really boring and worth a look especially."
   Indie Bookwork (09/10/2012)
---
"But more exciting experiments are afoot... The Most Boring Book Ever Written is a Choose Your Own Adventure-style literary piece for adults.  The story isn't simply experimental in form - with several distinct narrative strands, all resolving quite differently depending on the choices the reader makes along the way - but experimental in technique too, with the authors using virtually no transitions (to interesting effect)."
   David Gaughran (Huffington Post 09/17/2012)
---
"Like the 'choose your own adventure' books from childhood without the adventure!"
  Ed Kirchoff (Amazon.com review 01/23/2013)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very clever September 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
In a way, this *is* the most boring book ever written. The writer uses no transitions whatsoever, so you get, for example, the full teeth-brushing session - no skipping to the juicy bits. However, without giving anything away, this is very deliberate and adds up to quite a clever effect by the end. In fact, there are multiple endings. Each choice leads you off onto a different narrative strand. Some weave back to the same place, but others go in a very different direction leading to multiple possible endings (and resolutions). I really enjoyed this.

I knew from the title that I needed to get this book ASAP. I knew it would be boring but that's what makes it funny. It (if you make the right choice) has a line that repeats itself over nd over! made me laugh! don't even think interested buyer! I can't complain about a free book!

5.0 out of 5 stars An adult version of the "Choose you own adventure" December 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
remember in the 80s' when you read the Choose your own adventure books? This is the same thing except for adults (nothing dirty, just no options for playing with a skateboard versus taking grandma to the library) It is a boring book but it will pass the time in the grocery check out line.

4.0 out of 5 stars brilliant concept, well-executed
this book, contrary to what the authors claim, is pretty entertaining—but it's a meta sort of entertainment, a riff on the CYOA genre and gently scathing critique of contemporary... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the most boring book ever!

2.0 out of 5 stars Eh, could be better
the beginning had some humor, but when you have to repeatedly start over and skip through to parts you hadn't read yet, it seemed to be the same thing and got boring really fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheerfully bizarre
The title is a little (a very little) misleading... the book is not actually the most boring book ever written. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I think it was pretty awesome for how ridiculous and just plain straight forward it was. I loved it and I can't wait to find another just like this

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is hilarious
This book is hysterically funny if you find dry, cynical things to be humorous. If you remember the "choose your own adventure books" from your 80's childhood, this book... Read more

More About the Author

Over the last thirteen years, Rudolf Kerkhoven has greatly improved his typing skills. He is now able to type quickly through a rather unorthodox hybrid of the prescribed home-row technique and good old hunt-and-peck. As of the summer of 2011, his estimated WPM (words per minute) is 65, although it appears doubtful that this will improve any further. Rudolf Kerkhoven is pretty impressed with this. That's more than a word a second.
