Jean Ritchie is always a delight,

This review is from: The Most Dulcimer (Audio CD)
This CD is a necessary addition to any folk music collection. From the first lady of the lap dulcimer comes a creation of harmonic drones and beautiful vocals. If you like traditional folk, and especially if you like dulcimer music, you will enjoy The Most Dulcimer. If you are a dulcimer player, you could do worse thatn to emulate the traditional stylings of Jean Ritchie.

If you are looking for a CD where Jean Ritchie puts the most dulcimer tunes onto a disc, this is it. As she explains in the liner notes, many of her albums over the last 50 yrs or so have had 90% cuts with solo voice, guitar, etc., ANYthing but Appalachian dulcimer. Seeing how she's propably the biggest proponents of the instrument--having written definitive instruction books on the subject, this can be maddening.
So here she has the sound of a dulcimer on most, if not every one of the songs. Still, it would be nice to release a CD from her someday that is strictly instrumental, perhaps bringing in other masters of the instrument to duel away at eachother. Until then, this is the CD from Jean Ritchie that contains "The Most Dulcimer".
