In documentary style each episode of the show counts down the "most extreme" animals with certain traits, such as jumping, strength, fighters, survivors, etc. Often a computer graphic of a human will show what it would be like if we had the animal's ability.

I must admit I am not an animal freak, that is not to say I don't like them, they just don't interest me as much as other things. I honestly don't think I have ever turned on the tv with the specific intention of watching a show on Animal Planet, I don't think I could even tell you it's channel number. That being said, "The Most Extreme" is one very interesting show.

Every episode is well produced, from the footage of the animals to the older public domain cartoon and movie clips, everything flows very nicely for a countdown type show. They also use computer graphic humans to show what it would be like with certain animal's abilities which is very good at visually showing off how cool it would be to have the abilities of the some of the amazing animals in our world.

Besides being entertaining, the show also is educational. Now maybe this is because I am not an animal freak but I learned a lot of interesting things regarding various animals just from the first episode. The show just drew me in and by the end of that first episode I was hooked. This is the dvd for Season 1 and includes the following 50 minute episodes:

If you are up for being entertained while at the same time learning about some pretty amazing animals, I highly recommend checking out the dvd or watching re-runs on Animal Planet. I know I will.

I took a gamble on this DVD after reading the review of the person who stated it was neat and education despite NOT being an animal lover. I am SOOO glad I did. My children and I looked forward to watching it each time. We would watch one episode each night prior to bed as part of our family time. I actually have been trying to see if there was a season 2. It is indeed educational and well made. I will have to admit I fast forwarded through some of the "procreation" scenes. My son doesn't know why but my daughter did.
I highly recommend it to those who like nature and have young children.

This is a extraordinary series. Telling facts about animals and sometimes relating them to human behaviour, the series teaches a lot about animals, their intections, and the origins of our behaviour. It is lots of fun to watch it.

This is going to be a short review. The dvd themselves are very informative. The only issue I had with this was the casing for the dvds. The casing was horrible, provides little protection for the disk and not very stylish. 4 out of 5 stars

This DVD was really good and action packed. I love watching films about animals and learning more about animals, but I don't like it when the films are boring. This movie was very interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat.
