Forget the rest! This is the real deal!, December 12, 2005
This review is from: Most Haunted (DVD)
I have watched this series sense it first aired here in the UK. I am a US Serviceman stationed in UK. What they show is not as hokey as what I have seen on the ones in states. These people are real folks. They only want to prove if spooks exist. I must admit the leader is easily spooked and is very nervous at times ( well most of the time :-) ) But they seem to have it down as it appears to be the best I have seen. We in the US do not have the history they have here in UK and that makes it good as they are able to present details from centries long ago and have been researched as true. SPOOKY! So give it a watch

Most Wonderful, Most Enjoyable, Most Stimulating, October 28, 2006
This review is from: Most Haunted (DVD)
This is a brilliant show and I have been addicted to it since it first aired in the States. The format is simple: Presenter Yvette Fielding takes the audience to an old house or similar, walks about describing the reputed instances of haunting, historian Richard Felix adds his bit based on documented research, and then the mediums come in. Derek Acorah or David Wells, ignorant of the reputation of the place, orate the impressions and visions they get from the location's energy, be it residual or active. Then the lights go out, the night vision cameras come on, and we sit with the MH crew in various rooms and yards and attics and dungeons (oh my!) and basically watch them jump in response to creaks and cracks, and occasionally: paranormal phenomena.
The locations featured on this DVD are some of the best MH shows filmed to date. For my money the show plummeted in quality in recent years when parapsychologist Ciaran O'Keefe came on the scene, as his negative energy had an inhibiting effect on the mediums that was never present with earlier reality-check folk such as the delightful Phil Whyman. This DVD is collated from the earlier seasons, and therefore showcases the flamboyant and marvelous Derek, and the sweet and self-effacing David to great effect.
Sometimes the spirit encounters are light and airy: Furniture moves of its own accord in The Station Hotel, Dudley. Orbs flit around a costumed period actor at Tutbury. Yvette is forever starting at mice and screaming, to the eye-rolls and loving chides of everyone.
Sometimes the encounters are dark and unpleasant, as when, in The House of Detention, a malevolent spirit tried to take over Derek, and eventually blocked off communication with Sam, Derek's spirit guide. "Oh, we've got trouble here, Yveee" Derek warns, and ushers the crew out of the room.
Skeptics will forever snort at this stuff, but those of us who have conducted and been on paranormal investigations can tell the real deal. This is the real deal. Even if you want to cynically impose an ulterior motivation on the producers (Yvette and her husband Karl Beattie - who by the way is an authentic Samurai knight; how's that for trivia, folks?) leading to creative photography, there is sufficient genuine phenomena here to give the show legitimacy.
Gentle US viewers in particular should note that this DVD as advertised is offered in Region 2 format. I shall be thrilled beyond all else when the entire array of MH DVDs is offered in Region 1. Producers: there is a market here, so get with it!
Sleep Tight.

Most Haunted The Best Spook Busting Program Ever, October 12, 2006
This review is from: Most Haunted (DVD)
I am a devoted fan of Most Haunted since it began on pay tv in Australia. In fact I am buying all the series & live events. Tha cast & crew are so entertaining and it is funny to see their reations to different phenomena. But in all seriousness to go to a 2000 year old site with documented ghost sightings and sit or walk around in total darkness on your own or group vigil it wouldnt matter how brave you are any one would freak. These brave individuals and the mediums Derek Acorah & David Wells come up with the most amazing information that is historically correct or refruit urban myths or solve a mystery. This is without a doubt fair dinkum and they go to such lengths to show no deception, and with skeptic parapsychologist Cieran O'Keefe along with them, they couldnt get away with it. As Richard Felix their historian says" the show is as you see it & it's integrity is vital". If you are into spooks and hauntings this is a must see. Tamara a "true blue" believer.
