From School Library Journal
YA A blue-ribbon winner among veterinary biographies. Miller is a California vet whose patients have included not only the normal clientele of cats and dogs, but also horses, elephants, lions, porpoises and, once, a hummingbird. In an easy-to-read, down-to-earth style, he introduces readers to some memorable experiences from his 25-plus years of veterinary practice. Readers will laugh when reading his account of being at the wrong end of a cow at the wrong time; feel anger as he tells of horse dealers interested only in profit and cry at the tale of courageous, valiant animals who need to be put down. An additional treat is the inclusion of some of his humorous cartoons from a previous book, Who Has the 9:30 Appointment? (American Veterinary Publications, 1979). A book that will be loved by many, whether they be laughing or crying. Pam Spencer, Mount Vernon High School Library, Alexandria, Va.
