5.0 out of 5 stars Power of Love
This book is a beautiful tribute to a very special dog and, more importantly, a touching lesson in the value of looking beyond the surface before passing judgement. It packs a big punch into a few words. If the author had passed up the stinky dog next door, he would have missed out on the relationship of a lifetime. I've read the book a few times now and the lesson...

2.0 out of 5 stars not sure what to think
I'm not only a dog lover, I'm one of those people who've written about their dog. I've read other people's stories about their dogs and cried. (Have you read Arthur Phillips's "My Dog Days" in the New York Times? It wipes me out every time I do.) At this moment, my dog Harry is under my desk, curled up on a cushion next to my feet.

And...I don't know...

"Mostly Bob" goes straight to your heart like an arrow shot from cupid's bow. If you buy this book for a gift, we recommend that you wrap it in a Nice New Handkerchief and tie it with a Yellow Ribbon. This book is a treasure!

This story is beautiful and inspirational. It touched me. i love the layout, and the slow unfolding of the story - as it pays tribute to the slow unfolding of Bob's life.
Thank you Tom Corwin, for sharing this beautiful story.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing story and even lovelier design, March 3, 2006

This review is from: Mostly Bob (Hardcover)
This is a heartwarming and universal tale of unconditional love and affection. Although it's about a dog and a man who found each other, it's really about so much more. The other thing that struck me was the simple design, the feel and the weight of the book and the flip book image in the lower corner (that my son can't get enough of). The powerful experience of this book is a result of both the story *and* the feel of the book itself. Read it and pass on its wonderful message.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lesson in Love, February 22, 2006
This review is from: Mostly Bob (Hardcover)

All I can say is thank you, Tom Corwin, for a lovely story!

This is a book for not only dog-lovers, but for all who understand that profound connection one can have with a pet-companion. In fact, it's also a book for those who *don't* understand how deep the connection can be between a human and their pet. This book has the ability to enlighten.

I'm primarily a cat-person who lost their best friend several years ago. Tom Corwin's wonderfully loving story brought back memories of the love I hade for my 18 pound Maine Coon cat, Cosmo.

After reading Mostly Bob I cried and then remembered just how much I learned from Cosmo as he was dying. It was one of the most profound life lessons I've ever experienced ... and it came from a sweet old cat.

For those who aren't happy with the one-sentance format of the book ... I have to disagree with you. To me it lended to the simplicity and humanity of the book. Also, if you have complaints about feeling cheated - I suggest you tell Amazon that you think the book's format should be noted in the book's description.

This is a book I will not only cherish, but buy and send to my friends ... it reminds us that *love* truly IS the answer.

...although it's NOT just for dog lovers! A friend of mine sent me this book as an early Valentine's gift. It's not only the perfect gift of Love, it's a wonderfully written and beautifully presented book. If you're looking for words and art to express transformation and unconditional love, this is the book.
LOUD cheers and thanks to Tom Corwin!

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring read in a beautiful package, February 3, 2006
By
This review is from: Mostly Bob (Hardcover)
The short and beautiful story of Bob fills your heart up with each page you turn. The writing is lovely and the book artfully designed. At some point as you read, you realize it is also a flip book - what a wonderful touch to watch Bob run across the bottom of the page and disappear. (It actually made me cry!) I'll be giving this book as a gift for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal For Any Pet Lover, February 12, 2006
By
This review is from: Mostly Bob (Hardcover)
Mostly Bob is a small, simple book that will crack open the heart of anyone who has ever been touched by a pet. Although 144 pages, there are only a few poignant words on each page, giving a sense of the spaciousness that the author and his dog took in forming their ultimately precious connection. This tender format allows the whole book to be read in one, short, deeply fulfilling sitting, yet never feel frantic or rushed in its pace. It's a great little story, but beyond that, it reminds us of the magic and wonder that *any* inter-species connection can bring to our lives. If you have ever been touched by a relationship with any animal, I can't recommend this book highly enough. Tom's book started as a love letter to his pet companion, but is now a love letter to all of us who have known the comfort, joy, laughter and richness a pet can bring to our lives. I recently read a review that suggested buying 2 copies, because you'll want to share this book, and you'll want to keep it as well. I whole heartedly agree. Bravo, Bob and Tom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bob, by Tom: A heartening change of pace, March 4, 2006
This review is from: Mostly Bob (Hardcover)
We need more Bobs and Toms in our frenzied lives as we search for moments for peace and reflection. Tom, the author, describes falling in love with a heartful, intelligent being, Bob. The story is engaging and memorable not only because of its style, pace, and art work, but because it is a true story of transformation. That's what will help us in our quests: love and transformation. Thanks, Tom--and Bob.
