An Excellent Resource for Canadians,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mother of All Baby Books: An All-Canadian Guide to Baby's First Year (Paperback)
I purchased the Mother of All Pregnancy Books and the Mother of All Baby Books for the birth of my first child. I highly recommend these books. The information on practices in Canada sets them apart from other books and made my purchasing decision easy. I have spent hours reading and re-reading these books (when you're sleep deprived it takes a while to absorb information!). The information is current and the inclusion of comments and advice from other mothers gives it credibility. The writing style flows nicely and I appreciated the touch of humour (yes there's a "u" in humour in Canada) found throughout. Definitely buy these books if you live in Canada and are expecting a baby. You won't regret the investment.

So You Had A Bab-eh?,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mother of All Baby Books: An All-Canadian Guide to Baby's First Year (Paperback)
I bought The Mother of All Baby Books before our son was born, and found it helpful from the start. After our son arrived, I found myself checking in with Ann whenever I had questions about his health, or even my own recovery. Extremely reassuring was Douglas' more laid back approach to child development in the first year than that of the What To Expect.. series (e.g. when your child has not sat up on his or her own by 5 months, you do not need to rush to the doctor..). I highly recommend this book whether you're expecting or have just begun your journey as a parent.

A MUST HAVE FOR ALL SOON TO BE MOTHERS!,

This book is the only baby book you'll need to buy. It is so in depth and easy to understand. It has a lot of tables and "checklists" that are very interesting. I bought this book after I bought The Mother of All Pregnancy Books, which was awesome too. I like it so much better than the 'What to Expect' series because you can read this book straight through. After finishing this book, I wanted to buy The Mother of All Toddler Books...which is only available in the Canadian edition so far. But I think it will be available in the US soon. Do yourself a favor and buy it now!

I enjoyed reading this book, it's so easy to read and easy to understand. I found that the book talked about things other books don't even mention. And I love that it's contents are targeted to the Canadian reader. The only flaw I find is that she doesn't have solutions to solving some first year baby situations but all in all, it was worth the money.

This is the best baby book on the market. Ann is humourous and straight to the point, without giving any preachy options. A must if you are a Canadian parent. I bought it for my newly pregnant sister!

Loved the Mother of All Pregnancy Books and I loved The Mother of All Baby Books. It got me through many a time... what is thrush, how to cope with teething, what the heck my body was doing after giving birth... all sorts of things I wish my mom had told me!I also really like the fact that the author is Canadian and puts it in Canadian lingo. I found the book very reassuring, funny and clear. All and all... a book to ask for at your shower!

An all-Canadian baby book!,

This review is from: The Mother of All Baby Books: An All-Canadian Guide to Baby's First Year (Paperback)
The Mother of All Baby Books is a comprehensive and reassuring guide to baby care. It contains chapters on such all-important topics as preparing for the birth of your baby, shopping for baby (i.e. what you need and what is likely to end up being a complete waste of money), what newborn babies really look like, infant behaviour (sleeping, crying vs. colic), infant development, newborn health, breastfeeding and introducing solid foods, coping with the stress of being a new parent, how having a baby changes your relationship with your partner, how to tell when your baby is sick enough to need to require medical attention, and much more. Like the other two books in the "Mother of All series" (The Mother of All Pregnancy Books and The Mother of All Toddler Books), The Mother of All Baby Books includes a detailed glossary, a directory of Canadian health and parenting associations/organizations, leads on the best Canadian health and parenting web sites, Canadian immunization information, baby growth charts, and much more. This -- along with a copy of the children's book Goodnight Moon -- is my baby gift of choice for new parents.
