Ok, but not one of the best,
This review is from: Mother and Child: Visions of Parenting from Indigenous Cultures (Paperback)
While it is true that this book does have several very nice pictures, and the information provided was good, I have seen better books for this subject. The author jumped back and forth too much in her topics, locations, and timeframes. She made no mention of any natural infant hygiene methods used by the various cultures. Also, there was very little good information on the art of babywearing in those chosen cultures. The author seems to be intentionally vague in some areas, and very repetitive in others. While this book was interesting reading, there are far better books for learning about the parent/child relationships in cultures that are different from the readers own culture.

An Amazing Book for Mothers,
This review is from: Mother and Child: Visions of Parenting from Indigenous Cultures (Paperback)
An amazing book which explores how women from indigenous cultures experience birth, parenting, and the relationship with their child, the most significant transitions in a woman's life. She shows how these women accept, receive and utilize strong impressions from nature. The book examines the true and natural bonding between mother and child, and how it is impacted by many factors: i.e. the interaction, the long-process, a natural environment, relationships with others and more.
The pictures are amazingly beautiful and have a positive impact in helping understand the events described in the book. Any mother who desires a close natural bond with her child will benefit from reading this magical book. Jeffrey L. Fine, PhD, Psychologist: Author of: - "The Art of Conscious Parenting" |
