This review is from: Dear Mother Collectible Porcelain Music Box by Ardleigh Elliott
Summary: - MUSIC BOX MAKES GRINDING SOUND ( Music play through at 1:01 ) - Lack of Quality for High Price Transcript of Video: This is a review of the Dear Mother music box sold by bradford exchange. It's a Christmas gift for my mom. The box is an off white color resembling antique letter paper. with an envelope design in the back that says the name of the musical movement and a serial number. Press gently on the bottom part and lift the cover to reveal a short message inside along with the winder for the music movement. I'm UNsatisfied with the underside lining of the top cover. It is a pink papery felt like material. and the edges of the lining are not sealed in well to the box. For a $50 music box they could have used satin or another layer of porcelain. I assume the music movement is supplied by sankyo because there's a sankyo engraving on the winder. I sent an email to Bradford asking for a preview of the movement, but they were unable to comply. Let me play a bit of the movement for you. It sounds like an 18 note movement. The GRINDING noise you hear comes from the actual machinery. It is distracting, but still bearable right now. but I'm worried that it will worsen as time goes on and lubrication is depleted through friction. Overall It's a conceptually sound product, but the manufacturing and quality is LACKING for a $58 price tag including shipping |
