Amazing......,
This review is from: Mother to Daughter (Paperback)
The book is pure GENIUS. It makes you cry, laugh and learn at the same time. I think every mother of a daughter should be forced by law to have a copy. It's short enough that you will actually read it cover to cover, and its wisdom peirces though you as if you didn't have a choice but to grow. This is the "best book ever written on mothers and daughters." And it's short enough to read in one sitting. Amazing...

I had a hilarious, and teary time reading this with my mom. It led to fun memories of our years together and stories of her time with her mom and dreams of what raising my young daughters is and will be like. It's short enough to read in just an hour or two, but totally worth keeping forever and re-reading any time. I buy it for every new mom of a girl I know.

I've had the 'Father To Daughter' version of this small book, full of thoughtful inspirational ideas, for a couple of years. My wife really enjoys the 'Mother To Daughter' book. I definitely recommend this item for any occasion or purpose.

Love Harry Harrisons book. I have several and want to share them with everyone, especially if they have a daughter. I will use this book through all of my daughters stages in her growing up.

And this was written in 2005???,

It is becoming entertaining to see what shows up on the publishing circuit...and I got this as a gift. At first, the set, when presented to me, looked interesting (albeit mildly so), but like at least a "fun read" for a lazy weekend, and so when I had the time, I lucked out and picked this one up.
Now I'm wondering if I am the victim of re-gifting, or if this person actually spend their hard-earned money on it! I feel this seems to either be an exercise in humor or targeted for the nineteenth century--but couldn't figure out which. But practical-definitely not if we are talking about the millenia. I got rid of the set after I read this one--I had to resort to sticking at them at the bottom of the box I was donating to charity-hopefully someone buys it from them and SOME benefit comes from this, but I did not want anyone under 18 to read this in my home and take it seriously. Because if that happened--the results could be disasterous-for example, convincing some poor girl that her role as a mother, when she has a daughter-or even a son-of her own is to "be a good wife because you are shaping her relationships with men." Teaching your child self-respect does a nice job of doing that. And when and how to say no! Of course, given the size of the books, it doesn't seem it was oriented for detail where this could be stated; which is sad. Although only VERY FEW in actual number; a couple comments would have benefited from the authors being more detailed by what they meant. Even a SENTENCE or two could have done the job. This was like the comedian who takes it over the top and ceases to be funny: you stop laughing. Even calling it wisdom I SERIOUSLY question. The "advice" contained in this book, completely cured me from wanting to read the rest of them. As for me, I think I am going to stick to "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books, those are at least uplifting, if a bit dated (IMO, uplifting needs no date)...for Mom's: There's I think a couple of "Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul. Probably even at the used bookstore Ok...I guess the most bothersome, & the only "quote" (more than one were disturbing) that when I see by these two that "rents space in my head," even with the book GONE-shocking to believe ANYONE is this out of touch, was the bit about the mother not going back to work--now forgive me if I read into it wrong, but if memory serves, it said, "Know you'll look at her and not want to go back to work after a while and that is okay..." or something to that effect. OK, the sentiment, I get. Irregardless I sincerely hope that they would have, if asked--and maybe if giving practical advice, encourage the mother to do so ANYWAYS!!! Why? One reason-unless they want her to starve, rent and food are a good thing! The other is to teach her women and mothers need, should have, not just time of their OWN, some adult conversation, but are entitled to independence; there may not be a man around to save them, or to take care of them. It would also teach her self-sufficency. Besides, I don't know many families during a recession who can afford NOT to have both parents in some kind of job. But I suppose if you have a talent to make THIS look good, cute, and "fun" enough that it's purchased anywhere other than a garage sale, I suppose that's not of concern. Most live in reality though, thank goodness. In this millenia, if this was sincerely meant to be practical advice, it is at least a bit dated, and not much more than a few minutes of entertainment; and hard to get rid of unless you're planning a charity donation. If so---bottom of the box is my advice. Wasteful of time & money I had better quote applications on my droid--that were FREE (with my cell plan-the one gift that I enjoyed-this series: getting out of the house was enjoyable).
