5.0 out of 5 stars I like to sing the songs, too, January 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Mother Earth (Audio CD)
The second Tom Chapin in my collection (1st=Around the World) I got this at the library and fell in love with the Wheel of the Water song, plus Picnic of the World. Almost all the songs are good! Tom Chapin is great b/c his songs aren't annoying like many kid songs, and they have layers of nuance that will make my 2-year-old enjoy them for many years to come. Definitely worth having.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mother Earth Nurtures Kids and Families, February 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mother Earth (Audio CD)
I had to buy a CD from Amazon.com to replace the tape we've had for three years. It is literally worn out from being played so much. Words can't describe how wonderful it is to hear my boys (three and four years old) sing "good garbage is supposed to decompose" and inquire to Mother Earth when they are wishing for the most recently seen wildlife species to return to our yard! Tom Chapin's gift to our family is priceless.

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific, November 10, 1998

This whole CD is terrific, but the song, "Thanksgiving Day" should be a national classic. This CD has songs with great messages, melodies, and is fun too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Garbage, June 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Mother Earth (Audio CD)
We first heard this tape when we borrowed it from the library and it was a must have. My two year old goes crazy over the good garbage song - something I am also very excited about. While I know she is just thrilled with the tune and the funny motions I make to it now, I know it is helping her to learn and opening up opportunities for us to talk about recycling. Out of all her "kid" albums, this one is also the easiest on MY ears!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic, January 5, 2012

I had this album on cassette when my first child was little, and it is just as popular with little kids 15 years later. This is kids music for people who don't like that screechy, speeded -up and/or dumbed down stuff that makes you cringe. Tom Chapin also delivers a few environmental messages, along with some silliness. Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to listen to for adults too!, October 24, 2011
This review is from: Mother Earth (Audio CD)
I first heard these songs on my cable company's music channel, Toddler Tunes. I put this channel on for my 1 year old every morning and after a while I started singing along to them and just fell in love with the songs. lol Love the music! Great for little ones to be exposed to a variety of songs instead of just plopping them down in front of the tv.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mother Earth, July 19, 2011

Our whole family loves this CD. Each of the songs is unique and very clever. We always crack up for The Cousins are Coming; Stone Soup is the classic story of sharing and helping each other; All Through the Night makes me cry, it's so sweet, and basically, it just has something for everyone. Most songs are original, but there are a few classics. I highly recommend this CD. My boys are all grown up, but I still listen to this beautiful, educational, entertaining and inspiring music.

Listening to this CD again brought back so many memories of traveling to and fro with my kids in the car singing "The Cousins Are Coming!" and "Good Garbage." Now I have bought it for my grandson. I am sure we will have another generation of fun singing!

My niece gave this as a present to my daughter and we both love it. The title is fitting for the collection of songs. It teaches about conservation and respect for the earth.

I can't say enough good things about Tom Chapin, his creativity and the addictiveness (is that a word?) of his songs. The kids love them and we play them so often that I hear them in my sleep sometimes...I love this CD!!
