More About the Author

I started writing when my kids were preschool age. I woke before them to write each morning. Sometimes, I even wrote with them on my lap! Now that they are school age, it's much easier to meet my word count goals.

The things I write about are things I'm interested in learning about. My first book,The Mother Load, is a reflection of my own quest to learn how to care for myself while caring for my family. My second book, How to Say No...and Live to Tell About It, is the result of me learning how to say no without guilt. I wanted to share what I've learned. I'm sure my next book will also be about a topic I'm interested in researching.

My main goal in writing is to encourage readers to be different tomorrow than they are today. If I can do that in some small way, I've been successful.

Looking for something to browse thru one wintry day and found my wife's copy of "The Mother Load."
Guys...check it out....don't be embarrassed. Should give you some much needed insight on what your kids' mom face.
Well-written; an easy read. Mary has a great touch and her sense of humor and love for her primary job of motherhood shine through in her book.
Two thumbs way up!

The Mother Load is a timely book written with humor and candor for overtired moms. In it, I realized how little I take time for myself and what a beautiful gift it would be to my children if I did. Mary Byers writes with experience and she conveys her mommy advice with a have-a-cup-of-coffee-with-me-and-relax attitude. Moms in need of refreshment will be challenged and encouraged through the pages of this book. Highly recommended!

We are using this book for our "mommy's" bible study! It is perfect for an every other week study like we are doing. The ONLY draw back is that the group discussion questions are VERY general. So, we are having to come up with our own questions and "extra" scripture in order to make the study more in depth.
