If you learned to sew traditionally, this book is for you! It's full of tips and shortcuts and covers a variety of topics including: How to sew fast, textile information and care, basic tools, pattern fitting and alterations, stitching, darts, enclosed seams, setting in sleeves, buttonholes, zippers, cuffs and plackets, and much more. I read this book after having not sewn for a number of years. I couldn't wait to get back to it after reading this book. Not only is this book entertaining, it is a quick read loaded with information!

This book is my new sewing "best friend." It is easy to understand, and the points are well illustrated. Many of the techniques and hints in this book are ones my mother desperatley tried to teach me years ago, but, being a hard-headed teen-ager at that time, I either ignored or subsequently forgot the advice she was offering. I was introduced to this book by my daughter, who had picked it up a couple of years ago, and after skimming through it, I decided that I really needed to have it in my own book collection. It and "Pants for Every Body" now share shelf space right next to my sewing machine.

This has very good tips and tricks for both the beginner and the experienced seamstress. When my children were small, I made most of their clothes, and this book helped me increase my speed in sewing without sacrificing quality. I am glad it is still in print.
