5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Hartnell-style historical, June 7, 2010
This review is from: Mother Russia ((Doctor Who: The Companion Chronicles, 2.1) (Audio CD)
The Doctor, Steven and Dodo have spent an idyllic summer in a Russian village. But now Napoleon is marching on Moscow and something sinister is lurking in the woods...

Peter Purvis reprises the role of Steven Taylor with an energetic and occasionally impassioned reading that had me engaged in the story from the very start.

This audio captures the feel and pace of a Hartnell-era historical and evokes romantic mental pictures of 19th century rural Russia. But what really make the story compelling is Steven's emotional journey. It adds some true dimension to an often overlooked companion.

4.75 stars.
