A classic!,

This review is from: MotherWit: A Guide to Healing and Psychic Development (Paperback)
This is one of the best books I've found for guided visualizations. Years ago I was lucky enough to have this book help me on the spiritual path I'd begun. It remains my all-time favorite for the wisdom, beauty and information it contains. Inspired.

This is an excellent book written for women and filled with ideas and meditations. I've an older copy of this book and the new revised edition. Love it!

Excellent visualizations, a little heavy on politics.,

This review is from: Mother wit, a feminist guide to psychic development (The Crossing Press feminist series) (Loose Leaf)
I first encountered this book about ten years ago, when I was just beginning to explore women's spirituality. At that time, I was just starting to be able to understand the power of visualization, and I encountered this book which contains many visualizations focused on Goddess worship. The book was incredibly helpful in my learning process and development as a witch. The visualizations are very well written, and the poems that Mariechild includes near the end of the book are simply beautiful. At the same time, now that I'm reading with more mature eyes, some of Mariechild's matristic viewpoint seems irritating rather than appropriate. Of course it's good to write for a specific audience, such as women, but I feel that she goes beyond that, and is actually putting men down to a certain degree. My vision is of a world where enlightened men and women work in partnership to create community, not where women dominate. Overall, I would conditionally recommend this book to any women (or men who are difficult to offend) seeking to begin a course of study in the magical arts or to learn visualization techniques for stress reduction.
