This is pretty good panio based psych by Jons, Malone and Boback. That Jon's is the famous English recording engineer Andy Jons who worked with the Beatles and Stones, among most of the 60s rock encylopedia

These are tight songs briged together by psychadelic electronics. The tracks are well-written if not standouts. If you can remember the banging tie dye panio on the Stone's "She Loves You," this will put the sound of Motherlight in your ear.

Pretty good.

I am not entirely sure if Bobak, Jons, Malone's "Motherlight" was ever intended for wide distribution when it was released in 1970. In fact some sources have stated the original run of this record was only 50 copies until it was re-released years later. This band features recording engineer Andy Johns, producer Mike Bobak and Wil Malone, from the band Orange Bicycle who would later be known for the controversial arrangement on the Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony".

"Motherlight" blends British psychedelia with progressive rock, producing an album that sounds like a collaboration between Peter Gabriel and Syd Barrett. With the exception of the silly Marijuana anthem "Burning The Weed", the writing on this album is phenomenal. Unfortunately the sessions for this album are pretty sloppy, often marred with atonal guitar riffs or percussion that is barely keeping time with the music. I feel if this had been intended for release, probably the recordings would have been tighter. Given the fact that these guys were well established "behind the scenes" guys, they probably had bigger fish to fry.
