5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful Stuff
I'm not much of a car person, but I just used this stuff on my Subaru and it did a great job of getting almost of the brake dust and gunk off the wheels. Maybe I should have used another round though, since it had been far, far too long since those wheels had been cleaned! It was definitely easy and quick as promised. Just sprayed on and hosed off a few minutes later.

I purposely let my front wheels go in anticipation of getting this product. When it finally arrived I was a bit giddy thinking that my dusty/dirty wheels will now be history - wrong! I followed the directions exactly; the wheels were not hot, I sprayed every nook and cranny along with leaving it on the required time. Spraying off the foam gave me hope, but once I stroked...

I tried this product after a failed attempt to remove heavy, track-use brake dust from my BMW's wheels.

Wow is all I can say. I used a rag to work the nooks and crannies and the wheels look new again. After the difficult time I had with regular car wash soap, I thought the Mothers would only remove some of the brake dust, but the wheels look new.

Just be careful with this stuff. It smells pretty strong and my hands were really dry after using it. But no redness or anything apart from being dry.

This is one of my fav's, the others being the eagle1's wheel n tire cleaner. Though Nothing beats the use of a brush and elbow grease, this really helps with the calipers, spaces my brush can't reach, and especially the tires before i clean them. DO NOT expect this to wash your wheels for you, you still need to get down and scrub, this just helps alot. Though it runs out quick, it is inexpensive.

Pros: Works, you'll see the brown grime coming off the tires and the black dust from the wheels.
Smells like cherry (some will put that in the Cons)
great for nooks and crannies
Safe for almost all wheels
One of my fav solutions to cleaning tirewalls (clean shiny tires DO make a difference)

Cons: Runs out QUICK, you'll be getting another bottle before you know it
trigger a bit small, tires the fingers rather fast

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, April 11, 2009

I've used several other "wheel cleaners" that make all kinds of claims about how well they work. None of them has ever worked for me.

I picked-up a bottle of this at the Mother's booth at the "Good Guys" event in Del Mar last weekend. It is amazing stuff and works EXACTLY as claimed. Spray it on a cool wheel, wait 2 minutes, spray it off. It gets the grime out of every corner and the inside of the rim. It also does a great job on calipers. After using it on 2 cars I ordered a case of the stuff.

Oh yea, and I just used it clean a stainless BBQ grill. It works great for that job too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Black Sludge, April 19, 2010

Swapped my winter tires for summer tires and they needed a serious clean. I drive a Dodge Magnum SRT with 20 inch high performance rims. This stuff turned the capped on brake dust to black sludge. It did require some scrubbing but where applied, it took everything off with a garden hose. Great stuff. Just bought 4 more bottles. My only gripe, 1 bottle=4 wheels. Might be able to do more if you are doing basic clean maintenance but for serious clean, it took the whole bottle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best cleaner i used, February 15, 2010
This review is from: Mothers 05924 Foaming All Wheel & Tire Cleaner - 24 Fl.oz (Misc.)
OK, I got this cleaner after i have used the ArmorAll one which left me very impressed. As i became a real fan of this type of product (wheel cleaners) i decided it was time to try something else and thats when i changed from ArmorAll to Mothers.

ArmorAll cleaned my Benz wheels really good but after trying MOthers stuff i found a better product. Mothers took off more (not all) brake dust than ArmorAll, it almost left my wheels brake dust free.

All these type of products need between 30 secs to 2 minutes to act and they mus be applied to cool wheels. The Mothers brand smells very very strong... if you get to close to the wheel you will inhale the vapors and you will feel them right in your throught. After the first use i noticed the difference compared to ArmorAll... it cleans a lot better but it also smels and seems to be more hramfull to your lungs.

Apply it from the distance and try avoiding the vapors... you will have the cleanest possible wheels!

I followed the directions exactly; the wheels were not hot, I sprayed every nook and cranny along with leaving it on the required time. Spraying off the foam gave me hope, but once I stroked the wheels with my hand I came away with a dirty finger. At this point I grabbed a rag and rubbed the wheel down as I rinsed - it now sparkled! Bottom line: I can get the same results with basic soap - don't waste your money on this product!

1.0 out of 5 stars Still have to scrub wheels., September 23, 2010

This product did not remove any brake dust from the wheels on my car. I even tried doing the cleaning process twice to see if that would help. Finally, I had to scrub the wheels by hand. May be a strong spray of water from a pressure washer might have helped but standard household water pressure through a standard hose-end garden type nozzle, as most people have, was not strong enough. The Foaming Wheel & Tire Cleaner did make it easier to scrub the wheels clean but did not remove the brake dust without hand scrubbing.

Does good job, but to expensive for the number of tires & wheels it cleans. You have to cover all the wheel and tire to get a good job. I only cleaned 8 tires and wheels before the container was empty.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only product that did it's job, September 22, 2011

I'm giving this Wheel Cleaner 5 stars for one main reason: It did what it's suppose to do: Clean my wheels.
I purchased a set of Brushed Aluminum BBS Wheels for my Subaru WRX. The previous owner of the wheels was an AutoCross fanatic and had some caked on brake dust/metal shards/asphalt tar for years on every wheel. I initially purchased "Eagle One All Wheel Cleaner." The product was able to clean up the loose dust but the thicker particles wouldn't budge. I used brushed to agitated these areas with no luck. I moved onto Simple Green Full Strength and it SIMPLY didn't work. The only thing that seemed to get rid of the deposits were a steel brush. Not the greatest approach because i ended up scratching a wheel doing this. I did some more research and found that Sonax was the preferred wheel cleaner from the members of the local Subaru Forum. Unfortunately, the product doesn't have a home on any shelves of the local parts stores. As a last resort before I decided to sand all wheels down and repaint them, I purchased a bottle of Mothers Wheel Cleaner. WOW!

Following the directions on the back of the bottle along with using a plastic bristle brush, I was able to remove all lasting brake dust particles from my wheel. I've only cleaned one wheel but was far too excited and had to come on and share my review with Amazon. This stuff really works. I'm going to have to take some before and after pictures of the other 3 wheels. Another great PRO about this product is that you can buy it at just about any parts store around. I'm sure one bottle will be enough for my set of wheels but I agree with other reviewers that you have to spray a quarter of the bottle just on one wheel to get it cleaned. I'm VERY happy with this product and will recommend it to friends.
Thanks.
