Carnie Wilson won't be the first singer-turned-mother to climb aboard the lullaby train in search of new career scenery, but at least she comes by the urge honestly. Listen closely to any Wilson Phillips disc and it's clear hers is a voice that would make any recruiter's short list for new baby whisperers: it's soothing, it's rich, and it's tender. It's also plainly in a place where pleasing budding musical senses has become pretty important. "Lola Sofia," a love song for Wilson's 1-year-old, trickles off the disc like maternal tears of joy, and so do a couple of other originals--"When You Dream," co-written by Wilson and lucky little Lola Sofia's father, and "With the Sun," written by sister Wendy. But the real feast for tots on a scoot toward the Sandman (as well as their Beach Boys-loving parents and grandparents) arrives in the form of covers. Carnie Wilson, daughter of legendary Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson, has a varied career as a singer, songwriter, actress, author, and TV talk show host. As a member of Wilson Phillips she enjoyed unparalleled debut album success, selling ten million copies with three number one hit singles including the song "Hold On." The group’s second album achieved international multi-platinum success selling three million albums.

One year after the birth of her daughter, Lola Sofia, Carnie is releasing her first ever solo album "A Mother’s Gift: Lullabies From The Heart." The album is a collection of traditional and new songs, all inspired by Carnie’s recent journey into motherhood. The 12-track CD features such classics as "Over the Rainbow," "What A Wonderful World," and "You Are So Beautiful," a moving duet with her father Brian Wilson. Additionally there is a cover of the song "Heaven" by her late uncle Carl Wilson. New tracks include "When You Dream" written by Carnie and her husband Rob Bonfiglio and "With the Sun" written by her sister Wendy. Carnie also recorded a new arrangement of the Elvis Presley classic "Love Me Tender" interpreted as a lullaby.

This CD is wonderful. The way she sings these songs just go right to the heart. Track #3 Lola Sofia and track #6 Heaven are just absolutly lovely and catchy melodies too. Wonderful, Wonderful album !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a diehard Wilspn Phillips fan so my opinion may well be biassed. But the point is: I was blown away by this CD!!! I'm buying a copy for al my "mother" friends for next mother's day... On the first listen, I loved all the classics, but the original stuff is realy good! Wendy and her husband wrote one of the best songs on the album. The vocals are top notch!!! Congrats Carnie... You've done it again. The pictures are so sweet!!! Lola's a beauty (looks just like Rob) PS. CAN'T WAIT FOR A NEW WP ALBUM!!!

This is a Spectacular Lullabye CD! I am a huge Beach Boys Fan and especially Brian Wilson Fan! He & Carnie sing beautiful together, I would love to hear more. Carnie sings Forever, (one of my favorite songs that Dennis sings) Her calming and soothing voice brought tears to my eyes with this one! Great Job Carnie! Your Lola Sofia is BEAUTIFUL!!
