About the Author

Thomas Kinkade , the Painter of LightTM, emphasized simple pleasures and inspirational messages through his art – and the branded products created from that art. I received this book as a gift and it is wonderful. The book is a memory book. It has questions and space for the mom to fill in life events for her child. It covers basic questions such as where the mother was born, grandmother and grandfather's names, things that were happening in the country when the mother was born etc. It also goes deeper and helps the mother record memories from her life growing up and then during the time of her child. I particularly liked it because I'm a single mom and adopted my daughter and this book works well for us. Some "baby books" don't "fit" our family. This one does. I will fill it out as life goes by and someday have a hopefully treasured keepsake for my daughter. Nice job of having Thomas Kinkade pictures sprinkled throughout the book.

I bought this book for my mother as a birthday present, and we both love it. It was a wonderful way for me to learn things about her I would have never even thought of to ask. It contains Kinkade paintings in every chapter as well as other beautiful pictures. The book consists of fill in the blank questions (for mom), touching on many different subjects ranging from her childhood memories, and continuing throughout her life experiences. This is deffinately a keep-sake which I will have to hold onto the rest of my life and to show to my future children.

Because I wanted to give my two children a book of memories for Christmas, I looked at a number of ones found in various bookstores and online. A Mother's Memories to Her Child was the one that covered the topics that I was most interested in sharing with my children, which included my faith and my heritage from my parents. I also wanted to be able to personalize the book for each of my children, which I was able to do with this book (I actually completed two separate books -- one for each of them). My only objection to the book is that it doesn't cover a mother's college education or profession, which are important parts of my life, but I just added that part on my own. Also since I am a widow, I had to make some minor changes to the sections about their father (it would require major revisions for someone who is divorced). Overall though, it is a beautiful book that I enjoyed creating for my children.

I was VERY disapointed to see that this book was so religious. EVERY page related to some sort of religious conversation. While I am Christian, I did not buy this book looking to tell my child about my prayer or beliefs. It is very misleading and now I have to pay the return shipping costs for this, which I am not happy about. I also purchased the Father's Memories book by the same author and was also VERY, VERY disapointed. DO NOT buy unless you are looking for a book to discuss your CHRISTIAN beliefs... if that IS what you are looking for, then this would be a good book.

I bought this book for friend because I have one of my own that I filled out for my daughter. It is most wonderful book and I think every parent/grandparent should do this for their children/grandchildren. For me, it was a very moving experience because my own mother helped me fill out my book for my daughter the night before she went into a surgery. It turns out that my mom did not survive that surgery. She wrote some of the entries in my book for me that night and now it is last things my mother ever wrote in her beautiful handwriting. Very precious memories.

This is a great series. My wife and I have completed the Mother and Father books and we have provided the grandparent books to each respectively. Each book in the series provides you with a number of topic headings covering all facets of your life. You fill out your history in your own words. What a great thing to give your child/grandchild. I don't typically take the time to review books. However, this series was worth the time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

While a goal of mine has always been to make memories with my children, this little gem allows me to give them a glimpse into who I am, through sharing my memories of my own childhood and life. There are starters to prompt your writing and refresh your memories, making them ripe for storytelling. There are sweet and pretty illustrations throughout the book. It is notable that the book is peppered with religious notations, which fits my intent, but may not be what others are seeking. I have two sons and a stepdaughter and will be handing them each a completed copy of child-specific memories, since some of the notations are particular to the recipient. Years ago, I handed an empty copy of the grandmother's version to my grandma; when she passed, the completed book was given to me and more than five years since her passing, I am still brought to tears by her revelations and candidness in sharing her life's story with me. It has helped me understand who I am, and connected me to my past and my own children in ways I would have never imagined. It is a wonder, but this is more than a book...you are purchasing an experience.

I am not a religious person myself and I didn't pay attention to the religious notes in the book. My mother loved Thomas Kincaid, that is one reason the book was special for her. All I focus on is what my mother wrote in it. See, my mother has Alzheimer's and can't remember things she once did. If I asked her these questions today, she wouldn't know what to say. I am so thankful that I bought her this gift, it has now been a gift to me. Of all the things I found cleaning out my little mom's home... this was the most precious of all. I will cherish it forever. The questions are especially thought provoking and very well laid out. I love this little book and the gift it has given me and my mother, and her friends.
