Book Description

Moths of Australia is the first comprehensive book to cover the enormous diversity of Australian moths, summarizing our knowledge of them and presenting much original work by one of the world's foremost lepidopterists.

More than 1000 named Australian species are represented in colour or halftone photographs. Up-to-date nomenclature adds to the wealth of information on distribution, larval food plants, and the fascinating behaviour of these often colourful insects. The emphasis is on living insects and the means they employ to cope with environmental pressures.

Editorial Reviews

'Moths of Australia must rank among the most significant books ever written on moths anywhere in the world . . . I cannot recommend it strongly enough' -- M. S. Moulds, Australian Natural History

'a valued compendium for entomologists, not just in Australia but throughout the world . . . anyone with an interest in moths will find it an invaluable reference' -- Malcolm Scoble, New Scientist

'this massive work represents a model of scholarship, clarity and presentation . . . and must be regarded from here on as the authoritative work' -- R. L. Kitching, Australian Journal of Ecology
