5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Crazy Quilters, July 27, 2006

I love this book. Sure, I could find many pictures in other books but this one has the motif outlines by catagory. If you know nothing about some CQ techniques, get a different book.

This book shows how to transfer your designs, how to create your own alphabet and has lots of designs to copy. Many flowers, bugs, dragons and such. Some surface techniques I had not done. (a vintage lady with 3D clothes)

This book is a joy.

I've read and own several books on crazy quilting. THIS IS THE BEST!! It has tons of information on embroidery stitches, motifs (patterns, sorta) and instructions. Michler is a knowledgeable author and I highly recommend any of her books on crazy quilting but this is my personal favorite.

To be honest, I checked this out of my library twice before I finally resolved to buy it. Money well spent as I have used this book over and over again. Lots of ideas and lots of motifs to trace and use.

This is a great book for finding embroidery designs. There is a great variety, well categorized for easy access. The patterns are adaptable to many sizes and applications with good information on how to transfer them to your project. Nice photography and demonstration of techniques. This book goes teh gamut from just line stitching to applying cross stitch and needlepoint to plain cotton. Very worthwhile for embroiderers and crazy quilters.

I recently purchased J.Marsha Michler's Crazy Quilting, The Complete Guide and at the same time I purchased Motifs for Crazy Quilting, Techniques for Embroidering and Embellishing crazy quilts. These two books go hand in hand to become the very heart of your crazy quilting library. Motifs for Crazy Quilting is more than just motifs. It is the greatest motivational publication for you to feast your eyes and get your head spinning on fantastics ideas for embellishment.

This book concentrates on providing motifs for embroidery to compliment and enhance your seam embellishments. There are so many fantastic motifs available in this book, you really won't need to search for anything more. It's all here. From subjects such as animals, flowers, fans, feathers, fruits, hearts, horses, shells, spiders, trees, vegies, water and wreaths and lots more I haven't mentioned here, there is simply no motif idea left unexplored. Together with these very fine hand drawn motifs, come some great tips on how to use them, where they are best placed on your cloth, the types of threads recommended for use and lots more ideas and information.

The illustrations and photographs are very high quality and are easy to see and understand. I thoroughly recommend this publication as a companion to J.Marsha Michler's Crazy Quilting - The Complete Guide. They belong together!
