Product Description

The PathLights Automatic Lighting System lights the path in front of you at night, helps keep you from tripping in the dark. When you pass by a motion-sensing light, it automatically turns on the other lights, illuminating your path ahead. Since the system operates on radio frequency, the units do not need to be in line of sight. When you get within 6 feet of the first unit, it triggers the next light-even from 18 feet away. • Easy, do-it-yourself installation-takes less than 5 minutes • Unique, patent-pending wireless system lets light units communicate from up to 18' apart • Low light level-will not interfere with sleep cycles • Automatic shut-off after 1 minute, resetting automatically • Long battery life up to 16 months, depending on use • Expandable-add additional slave "B" units (sold separately) for larger areas • Use in staircases, hallways, attics, basements, garages, RVs, boats • Power source: 3 AA batteries per unit (9 total), not included • Dimensions (individual unit): 4"Dia. x 1.5"H • Weight: approx. 3 oz.

Overall I was very pleased with these lights. However, I only gave it 4 stars because of several issues that I had in my application due in part to the description not being very clear. Here's what I wish I knew before I ordered them. This set of 3 lights comes with two different kinds of units, called "A" type and "B" type. Only the "A" type units have sensors on them, you get two of those. The "B" type are triggered via a radio signal from the "A" type units, you only get one of the "B" type. The idea is that you would place the "A" type units at the start of the stairs and the "B" type unit somewhere in the middle. Now, here's the rub: The "A" type units do not talk to each other. So, in the pictured example, if you were coming down the stairs, the upper most "A" unit would come on and so would the middle "B" unit. But the bottom "A" unit would remain off until it senses your motion as you approach it. The same is true in ascending the stairs, the bottom "A" unit would come on and trigger the middle "B" unit, but the top "A" unit would remain off until it senses your motion. This is fine most of the time if they are installed as depicted. However, my application only involved two stairs in my garage and a small walkway area to the car door. Placing the two "A" units on the stairs did not work properly because the light from one would prevent the second one from coming on.Read more ›

I have a split staircase with a large landing between the two cases that lead downstairs from a loft master suite. I wanted a way to light the stairs at night without having to turn on the overhead light. These lights have a sleek design and are not too large to be unsightly. I installed the first light at the top of the staircase just below the first stair leading down 7 stairs, the second midway at the landing, and the third just off the second stair leading down 6 stairs. The combined lights throw enough light to show each stair edge leading all the way down! Just awesome!

I was skeptical about these when I ordered. They came, they are wonderful...easy to install literally took 5 minutes using a tape measure and mounting tape that came with them. I now do not have to hard wire in a light about my stairs. these lights do not stay on where other lights are available. great product.

the sensor on these things work surprisingly well. it only activates at night, even tho my hall way doesn't regularly get much light throughout the day, the sensor knows not to activate the light during the day even in the dark hallway.

the range and angle of the sensor is also very good. honestly this is the best hallway night light i've come across.

now i don't have to step on my dog at night.

So far so good with this product. It's exactly what I was looking for and if anything it's actually almost too bright since my cats trigger it every night as they go up and down the stairs and the lights seeps into the bedroom. But, they look great and the adhesive is working fine so far. They are a little bulky but that's to be expected since they need battery room. Very pleased so far with this product.

Our home has a wide U shape staircase with a large tiled open landing in-between the two sets of stairs. At night, this area is very dark and the open landing is hard tile, therefore to fall down the stairs is dangerous. Our night-time descent is made more hazardous because our large dog often spreads out to sleep on the landing, and he is invisible in the dark. We needed some temporary light without turning on the overhead row of recessed lighting, which is too bright and blinding for sleepy night eyes. These motion detector lights work perfectly; they illuminate the stairwell, at a lower level, without any glaring affect that blinds night-time eyes.

The lights are inconspicuous during the day, and the adhesive backing adheres well to our slightly textured walls finish. After I the lights were mounted on the wall, I had to relocate them once more and I was so relieved to see that they did not pull off any paint, since our house was freshly painted the year before.

Each light needs three double A batteries, which are not included in the set. Therefore, nine double A batteries are necessary.

There is a specific set-up required; there are two different motion sensor lights in the set; two ‘A’ lights, and one ‘B’ light. Both ‘A’ lights have a small plastic sensor on the top, and these communicate to the ‘B’ light. Therefore, the ‘A’ lights need to be on each end with the ‘B’ mounted in-between.

My own set-up is a little different from the recommended directions. I have the first motion sensor ‘A’ light located on the lower part of the hallway wall directly opposite the ‘B’ light, which is affixed to the top step.
