Product Description

Easily monitor patient mobility with the Motion Detector with Remote Alarm. When a patient gets out of bed, they will break the motion sensor beam and a message will be sent to the remote alarm. A discreet chime then notifies personnel of the patient's movement. The Motion Detector with Remote Alarm is effective up to 100 feet away and is generally attached to the leg of the patient's bed for nighttime monitoring. However, the Motion Detector with Remote Alarm can be placed in any location that you want to monitor. Both the motion detector and remote alarm run on DC Power (9V battery).

The alarm was perfect for our needs (although there was little difference between volume levels).

This won't do because I need to hear if my wandering mother is leaving when I'm not near her and she sneaks.

For safety reasons, my sister and I take turns monitoring my father throughout the night. So we purchased this motion detector to alert us remotely as soon as he swung his legs over the side of the bed. When the alarm goes off, we can look at a Lorex monitor to see if needs assistance. We specifically looked for a remote alert so he would not be startled when he set it off. We chose THIS alarm because of the remote alarm feature at a very reasonable price.

on the plus side: it chimes the instant it detects motion so we can immediately view the Lorex LW2003 LIVE snap Video Baby Monitor (White) to see if he needs help. The Amazon partner shipped immediately and the price was great.

on the down side: the range is pretty terrible -- 30 feet at best, not the 100 feet we were looking for -- and the low volume setting is very loud. Because we have to place it much closer to him for the alarm to work and the volume is so very loud, this means that when we have it set, the person on watch has to leap out of bed and run to shut off the alarm until he is back in bed because it continues to chime until the detector part's path is clear again.

Since he sits up several times during the night without necessarily needing assistance, that means WE are leaping out of bed as many times as he sits up.

As his health has improved :-), he has made the connection that he hears a bell every time he swings his legs over the side of the bed -- and was somewhat annoyed! But, also since he's improved, we don't feel it's as important to monitor him as closely either. It's been a nice trade off.

We used this above the door of our toddler so she could learn to stay in bed when it was bed time (but if she left the room it would let us know). I do like that you can set it for remote ( The speaker box) or for the base ( The sensor box) to go off that way you can use it when they are sleeping. The problem we had is the volume is LOUD even on low so we had to cover the speaker part to make it softer. The only other thing is it will not work though very many walls so you have to find out what the limits are in your home. But all that being said we really liked this and it worked good for what we were doing.

As the care taker of my parents, Dad is 86, blind, deaf and suffering from the on set of dementia, Mom is 78 obese with sever osteo, this product has been a life saver. Mom went into the hospital and then rehab for two months, leaving me alone with my father. Dad often gets up in the middle of the night and has a tendency to get lost within our home. During the night, this product chimes in my room the moment my dad gets out of bed. Easy to relocate, easy to use, most def. can hear it, not annoying, and will buy others in the future. My only complaint, wish it had a longer range. But I can adapt. This is a product all caretakers should invest in.

These last about 4 months, at which point you have to buy a new one. They just stop working, even with battery changes. I have bought 4 in the past year and I suppose it is time to start looking for another.

This product filled our needs perfectly. Having a senior in our home who requires monitoring at night, it alerts us the minute his feet hit the floor so we can respond quickly.

I bought a couple of these as I couldn't hear the other ones I had purchased - the sound was at the door rather than remote sound. I have them near our doors and they work perfectly. They aren't screeching like others I've had - just a "ding dong...ding dong" until the motion stops. I can even clip one on my pocket if I'm in the cellar. Anytime anyone comes in or goes out, I know it.
That is what I originally stated. The 5 stars are no longer deserved.
I gave these 2 stars because they DID, in fact, work great for about 4 months. After that, I dreaded ANY battery change because of the 2 sets I bought, one or both wouldn't work after that. I was finally down to one remote with 2 sensors when battery change time came. That was the end. ONLY the chimes will work without the remote. This won't do because I need to hear if my wandering mother is leaving when I'm not near her and she sneaks. Plus, while I've been using the chimes right at the door, they startle her. Hopefully I will find the same type product, but they will last more than 4 months.
