Machan Taylor is a seasoned pro with 4 gold records to her name as well as many tours with top stars and fronting Hiroshima and ZaZuZas(i think i spelled that right!) She's an amazing guitarist with an absolutely incredible voice!I sang with her a few times,I know!If you like smooth jazz with some latin feel thrown in you will love this cd! I highly recommend you buy it now and start enjoying the beautiful music of Machan as I have.

This review is from: Motion of Love (Audio CD)
This beautiful and talented singer/songwriter is extraordinarily on track with her second solo outing MOTION OF LOVE. The daughter of a Japanese jazz singer mother who met her father when he booked her trio to perform at a post WWII officers' club in Yokohama, Machan grew up in the U.S. with a passion for music. Inspired by the playing and singing of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, Machan taught herself to play guitar by the age of 12. By the age of 16 she was supporting herself as a performer! Well known in the music industry for her sensual pop jazz vocals and accomplished guitar playing, Machan has accompanied many world class artists on stage with her talents over the years... including Sting, Aretha Franklin, George Benson, Hiroshima and Pink Floyd. MOTION OF LOVE has this delightful vocalist flanked with an abundance of jazz genius featuring the likes of John Medeski, John Scofield, Portinho, Randy Brecker and the artist's husband, Government Mule's Danny Louis. Nine of the ten songs have been penned by Machan... the only cover is a stunning version of the Government Mule tune "Beautifully Broken" with a unique spin on arrangement and chord progression. There's a Brazilian hue running throughout MOTION OF LOVE lending itself nicely to the Smooth Jazz stand out tracks "More," "Extraordinary Thing" and "Without Your Smile." After all, Brazilian jazz truly does set love in motion... and Machan harnesses the vibe with grace and insightfulness. ~Sandy Shore
