5.0 out of 5 stars Astounding!!! Imaginitive!!! Deserves 8 stars!!!
I saw Michael's masterful performance on PBS 3-4 years ago, missed the opportunity to get the vidio at that time, and am delighted to finally have it in our library! It's hard to believe that a person can achieve the degree of control necessary to combine such bewildering and imaginative juggling with poetic, graceful movement!

What appears impossible, Michael...

3.0 out of 5 stars fabulous work, but too much padding on this video
Michael Moschen does amazing things with simple spheres and circles. His work is part juggling, part dance, and entirely his own. He figures out what properties are in the object he wants to work with, and then he finds ways to make the object do surprising actions. Some of his manipulations of objects are quite subtle and best seen on the screen rather than on stage,...

What appears impossible, Michael makes look so easy--and fun to do. Just try some of the moves with NOTHING in your hands, and I think you'll see what I mean.

We enjoy his work thoroughly! I believe that anyone who acquires this video will have no regrets!

5.0 out of 5 stars He is one of the best!, May 2, 1999

Like everyone else I first saw his Great Performances appearance years ago, more like 6 years ago now and was dazzled! I have looked for this video for a long time and am happy to find it now. It will be a treasure.

Also of note for Michael Moschen fans: He did choreography for the new Cirque du Soleil travelling show "Quidam" and I beleive he remains associated with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Moschen's Dance in America show, October 30, 2000
By

This review is from: In Motion With Michael Moschen [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is from PBS's Dance in America series. The first part of the show is Moschen as juggler. Moschen's speciality as a juggler is bouncing balls off things, a speciality well displayed as he plays with rhythmn and motion in a large wooden triangle. His work is then shown in two dances - one using ring and stick, one using glass balls - where shape and motion are displayed in fascinating forms.

What makes this video a "must have" is the insight into how he works are created - through showing his exploration of the motion of objects (in sand and sculpture), in his working with the dance troop on the ring/stick sequence and in his exploration of architectural forms.

Moschen is an artist that desires wider attention; this video shows why.

Michael Moschen does amazing things with simple spheres and circles. His work is part juggling, part dance, and entirely his own. He figures out what properties are in the object he wants to work with, and then he finds ways to make the object do surprising actions. Some of his manipulations of objects are quite subtle and best seen on the screen rather than on stage, as when he rolls 8 glass balls around in his hands so that they look almost liquid.
This video, however, has maybe 15 minutes of Mr. Moschen's beautiful performances, and the rest is padding. We see him walking down the beach, teaching some other people to do the work, testing out tools, etc. Watching this video I felt cheated. I have seen a number of still photos of him in action using other objects than he uses in the video, and I was expecting to see thsese routines also.
His work is gorgeous. It is worth someone's effort to put together a video that shows it to its best advantage. This one is not it.

We saw this video on PBS (over four years ago) and we were totally enthralled! I have looked for this video ever since! I am thrilled to find it after all this time. Michael Mochen is one of the most talented individuals, lyrical, in total harmony with universal movement... A beautiful treat for the eyes and senses! Fascinating to watch - my husband is equally impressed, ideal for anyone who loves to watch the grace of a human figure. Definitely worth six stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creating Beauty in the world, October 23, 2005
This review is from: In Motion With Michael Moschen [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Michael Moschen's work displays an amazing combination of physical dexterity, concentration, balance, flow, inspiration, beauty and artistry. This Great Performances video offers him in performance and also provides insights into who he is and how he works and practices. I have watched it many times and shared it with friends because it's such an amazing and wonderful demonstration of what we humans can be capable of doing with our lives, each in our own way, to create beauty in the world. Watch this for entertainment and for the beauty. Watch it for inspiration, and feel your heart rise and expand with your own sense of purpose in life.

This video is incredible.

I agree with some others, after you've seen the teaching parts and the cute family life part once, FF on by(I'm kind of insensitive that way), and his students just aren't as talented so after the first viewing I FF on by them as well.

But MM juggling and the other stuff he does is mesmerizing. I've yelled, "You can't do that" more than once while watching this. It's Pact with the Devil kind of optically delusional stuff.

Think "geometry nerd finds acid" and you'll get an idea.

Effortless in appearance, Michael transforms solid objects into a weightless art of line and liquid Moschen that exerts an almost hypnotic power over his audience!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best juggler in the world, February 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: In Motion With Michael Moschen [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have not seen this tape but seen him on Maury Povich. He is AMAZING! He is the best juggler in the world. I am going to order this tape this week. he did a juggling thing where he is in a triangle frame and with a bunch of balls bouncing all over the place. And he has an act with crystal balls. I heard those tricks that he performed on Maury Povich he has on his tape so it is worth the money. I would be willing to pay $50 for it... lucky me, its only $20. GET IT NOW!!!
