5.0 out of 5 stars NOT NEW -- just effective
This is a non-fiction book and meant-for application to any marriage. Before reading it, I couldn't shake off what I heard about this book when I listened to a radio program that featured it. I felt compelled to buy it and I did. My marriage of 28 years has been changed for the better after reading it. This has happened after yielding to its principles. What the book...

2.0 out of 5 stars Should be called "Manipulating your man God's way."
I did this book with a small group, and while many deny they are trying to change their man, their actions say they are. If women tried this hard to change themselves, their marriages would undoubtedly be better. The priciples are biblical and sound, and I do believe the premise of the book wholeheartedly, however, this book is bent toward women getting what they want...

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT NEW -- just effective, May 14, 2005
This review is from: Motivating Your Man, God's Way (Discovering One Word That Energizes Your Husband To Love) (Paperback)
What the book has to say is hard to hear but effective once practiced. It is written as a tool or guide in "sessions". No one can sit down and read it and change anything -- each "session" incrementally advances the change process. It is one of the most powerful books I have ever read about marriage because of the resulting changes in me, my marriage and in my husband too. My husband has become more free in pursuing a well-lived life as a result of it. And I have too.

This is an edit to my review. I now realize that the author has 2 separate books with the same title with one variance. One uses the word "UNDERSTANDING" instead of "APPLYING" "one word that energizes your husband to love" in the subtitle. This review is for the book by the same author with the following subtitle: "APPLYING ONE WORD THAT ENERGIZES YOUR HUSBAND TO LOVE."

2.0 out of 5 stars Should be called "Manipulating your man God's way.", May 14, 2011
This review is from: Motivating Your Man, God's Way (Discovering One Word That Energizes Your Husband To Love) (Paperback)
I did this book with a small group, and while many deny they are trying to change their man, their actions say they are. If women tried this hard to change themselves, their marriages would undoubtedly be better. The priciples are biblical and sound, and I do believe the premise of the book wholeheartedly, however, this book is bent toward women getting what they want from their husbands. I like the "mother book" better. Love and Respect by the same authors. Do it with your husband (or alone.) It's not so slanted. This book often makes men out to be manipulatable idiots.
