Great idea, one design flaw,
By RacerX (JAX, FL) - See all my reviews First, let me say that the concept of this item is great. No running back and forth to the master cylinder reservoir to fill fluid, etc. Just fill the bleeder jug, pump up the pressure, and bleed your lines in whatever the appropriate sequence is. Brilliant. Unfortunately there is a weak link in the chain. And that is the frigging plastic cap that is supposed to form a pressurized seal over the master cylinder. Sadly, I had no luck getting this to work correctly. I could get *maybe* 10psi before the air started leaking out. I tried reseating it, loosening tension, tightening tension, moving it around, etc. And unfortunately, every time was ~10psi, then "hissss". No dice. I tried just doing the 10 psi but that wasn't really enough pressure to push things through the lines, plus to add insult to injury, the brake fluid ended up leaking out between the power bleeder cap and the master cylinder. I believe this ultimately is a build flaw with the unit; specifically the pressure cap for the master cylinder. If the cap was made out of something more rigid, like aluminum, steel, etc.. basically something without as much flex as the plastic that was used, it would work 1000 times better. Until that design flaw is fixed I would highly recommend another alternative to this item, or at least buy it from a place that doesn't give so much hassle about returning it. Which is what I'm dealing with now.

Great Product w/ One Flaw.,
By Scottro "SG" (Pittsburgh, PA) - See all my reviews The only flaw I've found in mine after 3 years is that the steel bushing used to hold the pressure gauge in place reacts badly to brake fluid. It will rust and lots of flecks of rust will fall into the clean brake fluid as you pump. I don't know why Motive Products would use such a bushing in this unit, but they do. I contacted Motive Products about the issue and they said "We have had great luck with the steel bushing and have not experienced rust as you describe. Were you storing your Power Bleeder Outdoors ?" I thought this was a pretty smarmy response, and went out and bought a brass bushing to fix the problem myself.

It is not Universal,
The Motive Universal bleeder kit is not universal. The product description says it will fit Honda among many other cars. I have an Acura which is...made by Honda and the Universal Bleeder cap will not fit over and seal the reservior on top of the master cylinder. The tabs on the outside of the fluid reservior will not allow the cap to seal on top of the reservior. I tried inverting the tapered rubber conical looking piece and that did not help the situation. The method of attachment with the chain and hooks, sucks. My reccomendation would be to have a cap that is made for the brake fluid reservior that can then be attached to the tank to pressurize the system. I should have known better than to buy a "universal" kit.
